Sun-Times says O's want Cedeno, Gallagher, and 2 more prospects

It was posted briefly somewhere in the O's deciding what pitchers the O's want for Roberts thread.

But about the article, that's what the O's should want. This will probably start another argument between O's and Cubs fans about BRobs value and the Cubs prospects values, but that's what the O's should be asking for.

I really believe that if a deal does happen, it will be Gallagher, Cedeno, Murton, and Veal for BRob. Regardless of what we all think and how we all value players, MacPhail isn't gonna accept anything less than that. It's whether or not Hendry is willing to pony up the players.

Sounds about right, but I am sure that THEY will be here any minute to tell us how that is ridicules and no way to we get any of their amazing players. I miss being able to read good O's talk on here. We can't even start these kind of topics anymore without Cubs trolls ruining them. It is getting to the point that I just read the minors board now.

I say Gallagher, Cedeno, Hart and Thomas and we call it a day and get them out of here for awhile

Note: I do not mean ALL Cubs fans. There are a few that I enjoy reading.

How would Cedeno, Gallahger, and two prospects equate to those two prospects being Murton & Veal? I don't think the O's want Murton. That's part of the problem. The Cubs want to move him but the O's don't want him. The O's would rather have a couple of good prospects instead. I agree with them. Despite what our Cub friends have been selling, Murton regressed last year and looks to be an average LF at best. With Scott in the picture and Reimold getting close, the O's have little need for him. Can the O's & Cubs agree on those two prospects? Unlike the teams' fans, I think so.

Agree with this 100%. We have Scott and Reimold already so Murton (and his relatively average performance over the past two years) may be more valuable to the Cubs anyway as a fourth OFer.

The only certainties in this deal, IMO, are Gallagher and Cedeno. The Cubs have little use for Cedeno as a MI after acquiring BRob, unless he's their fifth OFer. We would have a need at SS or 2B to see if Cedeno could perform at the league average before looking for a better prospect. But Cedeno profiles as the third piece of this deal, IMO.

I believe the second piece of the puzzle should be a quality one in the mold of Colvin/Ceda/Veal (similar to what the Tigers received for Renteria) and the other piece besides Cedeno should be a top 15-20 organizational prospect (I've previously mentioned Huseby, Burke and Suarez).

I am beginning to also agree that the Orioles don't want Murton.

Some writer recently said we want Eric Patterson...Maybe we are trying to put EPat in the deal and not Murton and want a high ceiling guy like Colvin?

I still think it the 4th player that is the hold up...Also, if we are trading Payton in the deal, i think the Cubs could be asking us to eat some money.

You posted the other day that Murton was definitely in the deal, no?

Yea, i did believe that for everything we were hearing nationally and things I was hearing privately but there are some recent things that make me believe that is no longer the case.

I think Cedeno and Gallagher are in it...After that, it is up in the air...In other words, i think this article is right.

Most of this is based on opinion, some based on info I have heard.

Its amazing how it seems Veals value has hit a snag. O's scouts must have not been impressed?

No offense, but there are no Cubs fans in this thread. Really, this is unnecessary.

There is still plenty of good stuff to read on here about the Orioles.

None taken at all. I did not mean any disrespect to the board or any of the O's fans. I respect all of your opinions and spend half my day reading them. :D

As for my frustration with the Cub trolls.....Give them a few minutes. They will be here. They must have had to step out for a minute or two. As soon as they see this thread, they will start trolling. No way this thread makes it without them coming in and forcing arguments with board members. Please see any other Roberts/Cubs threads on here.

Everyone here is a "board member."

I think perhaps you need to find a better way to deal with folks whose opinions don't agree with yours than stereotyping them and calling them names.

    • I guess we were watching a different outing.
    • You try to sign long term Gunnar and GR.  Wait and see on the others. As for Adley?   I would not sign him to a long term contract.  I hate to say it because I love the guy but he just does not seem worth what he is going to ask for imo.
    • I am not worried about Means AS LONG AS HE IS HEALTHY.   Big if.  But he knows what he is doing getting ready for what him is his spring training.  If he does this his first 2 starts or so?    Then I worry.
    • I had never seen him in a live at bat until I saw him at his first spring training at bat this year.  And I mean his very first at bat.   He struck out swinging on like 4 pitches and being honest looked completely over matched.  I remember thinking....."hmmmm that seems odd for a guy so highly touted".   He just seemed like he had no idea what he was doing.   But then I never really saw another live at bat from him again all spring training and he ended up doing pretty well.  However every at bat I have seen of him since he got called up?  Looked like that first spring training at bat.  He looks like my wife trying to hit a major league fastball.  He has no idea what he is doing. I have never seen someone so good against minor league players and yet so bad against major league players.  Just a huge discrepancy.   Has to be psychological.   He looks completely intimidated.
    • And who is this somebody other than Means or Flarerty that would help us in the playoffs. Also remember Bradish and Grod did not help us in the Playoffs. So I guess It was unwise to wait on those 2. Plus Bradish is hurt and uncertain going foward( a la Means) Yeah you piled on.
    • I will say I am surprised at how utterly useless/helpless JH looks after he got called up.   Not just surprised. Stunned is a better word. This is not an 7th round pick who struggled for years in the minors.   This is the #1 pick from 2 years ago who has dominated his entire life in the game of baseball. Yet he looks like a player in 8th grade playing against seniors in HS.  He can barely make any contact and even his fielding and throwing is very iffy. It is like he took up the game of baseball within the last year.   A complete novice.   This has to be mental because even the worst of the worst can make more contact than he is.  He is FLAILING.   No way that is all physical.    At this point you send him down.   No questions asked.   I was more than willing to let him get through this if he SHOWED ANY SIGNS of life.  But he just doesn't.   He looks pathetic.    Manny Machado he is not.   Send him down for at least 3 months.   Bring up Mayo.  Or anyone really.  It is better than what he is offering.
