I am conflicted about Delmon's approach. Every time I want to get frustrated, I think about that first pitch swing against the Tigers.

He's been very out efficient the last two at bats - three outs on two pitches.

Anyone else hear Rick Dempsey talking about Devon Travis' homer after the game last night? Basically said it was suspicious that such a small guy was crushing the ball so far and he must have had help from someone in the outfield.

Why is everyone suddenly so worried about the opposing pitcher's pitch count?

Now I don't want them swinging at junk but there is no longer a gain for a hitter to let strikes go by.

I think it is a nervous tick with Delmon. He just likes to swing on that first pitch no matter what. After that, he can have patient discerning at bats..sometimes.
