????????????????????????????????????????????

From the Sun:

Another possibility beyond Stern and Bynum is Kansas City Royals outfielder Reggie Sanders. The Orioles and Royals have engaged in several discussions concerning the veteran right-handed hitter in recent days, according to an industry source. Kansas City is seeking a reliever, but any deal most likely would hinge on the team's picking up most of Sanders' $5 million contract for 2007. The Orioles, in turn, would have to make sure they could provide enough at-bats for Sanders to keep him happy.

On the other hand, if they made him unhappy enough maybe he'd retire after Payton comes back and save us some of the $5 mil.:D

Not a good move, imo. Sanders is washed up flotsam. He walked a total of 7 times last year in 350 abs. Not what this club needs. You'd have to think we could get somebody better, not to mention younger, than this corpse. Otherwise keep the reliever and the money- 5 mil!- and wait for something better to come along. Don't knee-jerk because of Payton's hamstring.
