Baltimore Orioles (27-19, 2nd -1.0) vs. Cleveland Indians (25-21, 2nd -1.5)

Streak / L10

BAL: +1, Lost 4 of 5 / L10: 4-6

CLE: -1, Won 3 of 4 / L10: 6-4

NEW: Quality Start minimum requirements (experimental, suggestions welcome)

- 6 IP, 2ER

- 7 IP, 3ER

- Game ERA must be 4.00 or less

Game 2 (4:10)

(QS=2)Ubaldo Jimenez (2-5) 6.04 (1.78/.306), 44/27 (5HR) / (*L3: (0-2) 9.60 (2.20), 9K, 11BB)

vs.

(QS=5)Danny Salazar (4-3) 2.32 (1.12/.181), 67/26 (3HR)

Ubaldo Jimenez: Jimenez has been awful over his last three starts and that's probably an understatement. He hasn't been bad with runners on and two outs, but has been awful in pretty much every other situation. He has been bad on the road and bad in four starts against Cleveland, but has pitched well at "We Pay To Defend Your Killer In Court" Insurance Company Field from his time with the Indians and may be able to get comfortable there to snap out of this funk a bit. One can hope.

Splits & Sits

Career vs. CLE (4 starts)

(1-2) 5.06 (1.55/.244), 2HR, 14BB in 21.1 IP

vs. Batter

Juan Uribe (15 AB) .333, 2 2B, 3RBI, 2BB

Mike Napoli (13 AB) .308, 2B, 2HR, 3RBI, 2BB

Yan Gomes 3/9, 2B, BB

Lonnie Chisenhall 0/7

Rajai Davis 1/7, 2B

Jason Kipnis 2/7, 2BB

Carlos Santana 1/6, HR, 3RBI, 2BB

Jose Ramirez 1/4, RBI, BB

Francisco Lindor 0/3

Danny Salazar: Salazar has gone seven or more innings in four of his five quality starts and has allowed only eight runs in 31.1 May innings good for a 2.30 (1.18) this month. The WHIP is inflated due to walking six batters in one of those starts, but has allowed way less than a hit an inning this season so far at only 35 hits in 54.1 innings, but 26 walks also. Salazar is a very good pitcher both at "We Pay To Defend Your Killer In Court" Insurance Company Field and in two starts against the Orioles. He also has 67 strikeouts in 54.1 innings, so that's not good if you're an Orioles fan right now.

The Orioles blew an early three run lead in this game, but were able to put up three more later in the game which ended up being enough to win 6-4 to snap the four game skid which is always good, but tomorrow's matchups do not look good.. not at all. Cleveland didn't seem to get the memo that it's bad to throw too many fastballs to this team.

This matchup doesn't look good at all for the Orioles. Salazar is elite and Jimenez hasn't even been average lately. Jimenez is going to have to be very good or Salazar very bad for the Orioles to have a chance in this game.

The Orioles pull back to within one game of the lead with the Boston loss today and Toronto has won three in a row pulling to within five of Boston and four of us. The Yankees have also won seven of 10 sitting 5.5 back, but the Rays have fallen into hard times and are now seven back. In every other division, all games are still being played and I'm not feeling patient tonight. The White Sox blew a 5-2 lead to KC in the seventh and now trail 6-5. Miguel Gonzalez started this game and allowed three runs on eight hits in 6.1 innings. He was relieved by Jennings, Albers and Duke who combined to give up three runs with one going to Jennings and two to Albers on the hit allowed by Duke.

I HOPE I can be back here posting by gametime. I have to rebuild my computer this weekend. My c:\ drive is MAXXED OUT for space. I have dueling Western Digitals waiting in the wings. Plus I want to snag free Windows 10 while it lasts...

I can post on my phone if things go bad.

Memory is stupid cheap.
