But if you define the playoffs as any game played beyond the regular season, which is my take, then they do qualify. Funny how subjective the playoffs are in terms of the wildcard.

It is meaningful October baseball and an elimination game. Call it whatever you want....

20 teams are done for the season and 10 are still playing.

Which, by the way, is a lower % of teams making the playoffs than in any other major North American sports league.

No one questions whether first round NFL, NBA, or NHL playoff games are really playoffs.

Sessh that's a very thought provoking post. Your point about the wildcard was especially interesting. I kind of agree that it is a contest between the two runner ups. So in a way, not the playoffs - if the playoffs are defined as the best team in their division, record-wise, going up against their counterparts from other divisions.

MLB defines it a playoff. This argument is like saying that you don't like Webster' definition of the word. It doesn't really matter. You can have free thought, and free speech, but not free facts. Free jazz is ok as well. Get MLB to change the rules. The Orioles, Giants, Mets and Blue Jays made the playoffs.

Free postseason baseball is good too.

Finally able to see a full game on TV while at the beach since we can get the Wild Card game on the national broadcast.

The lifeguard stands here at Wrightsville Beach NC have an Orioles look to them. 1587509a2777db1a5817ca9daffebc6b.jpg

Just get the heck out of there by the weekend!

"It's really happy and exciting that I get to go to the playoffs in my first year with a team that was so supportive of me from the very beginning," Kim said through interpreter Danny Lee.

I hope the team is supportive enough to put him in tonights starting line-up. Love this guy's approach at the plate.
