I thought Davis was $17M

Two of Hart, Drake, Wright, Wilson for the bullpen $1.1M

Mancini and Rickard for two spots: $1.1M

So that comes out to about $13.8 for catcher, RF, and one more bench spot.

Put Davis in right and Mancini on first... boom. You'll have about $13 mill for a catcher and/or improved bench, etc. I suspect we'll wind up with some kind of reclamation project/bargain-bin player in right next year.

I'd be considering an offer to Matt Joyce. He's a pretty nice player for right. Would fit the mold of adding some OBP. Something of a stop-gap player, but respectable. Maybe a 2/9 deal.

We aren't getting Dexter Fowler, so... something like this, or again... moving CD to right and putting Mancini on first would be my solution to the right field hole.

Trumbomber is likely getting paid, and deservedly so.

Another possible solution is to re-sign Steve Pearce and make him the everyday RF while having Mancini as the everyday DH. They could sign a few guys off the scrap heap like a Gregor Blanco as insurance policies. I think it would be a really good idea to re-sign Pearce because he's going to be relatively cheap coming off the elbow injury plus he has been a very effective hitter for the last four years against both lefties and righties.

I haven't done all the math but if you are asking me to create salary room, I would try and sign Wieters to a three year deal for $10 mil per; cut Flaherty and Joseph, move O'Day if at all possible, trade Kim and eat half his contract for a prospect, and move Joey to LF full time. With $12m in savings, I would offer Bautista a 3 year contract worth $40m with $8m for the first year doubling over the final two years at a time when Gallardo, Jimenez and Mylie are off the books. I would then draft a Rule 5 power arm for the bullpen and spent the last $4m for a utility IF- OF.

I honestly hope none of the things you just said actually happens.

I can do it for less than 25 bucks.

C - Can of Corn - The perfect catcher. A little crotchety and grouchy. He'll hit .230 but probably has a great arm and can block balls in the dirt. Pitch selection will be called into question every so often. Will be a debate on the board as to why he's looking into the dugout at Buck between pitches.

1B - Davis - $23M

2B - Schoop - $3.4M (arb)

SS - Hardy - $14M

3B - Machado - $11.2M (arb)

LF - Kim - $4.2M

CF - Jones - $16.3M

RF - ? Frobby. Duh. His knees might be a little bad at his age but he'll always come through. The ultimate teammate that everyone loves. Lawyer background makes him a natural to hold the Kangaroo Court postgame.

DH - ? Roy Firestone. Swinging at everything, up there hacking. Yearns for the days of when players wore their pants too tight and wore stirrups and will rock that look, making him a fan favorite.

C - Joseph - $1M (arb)

IF - Flaherty - $1.7M (arb)

OF - ? DrungoHazewood. Well traveled smart veteran. Career hasn't worked the way it wanted to but still a solid player. Is often found at his locker reading engineering books with titles that his teammates can't pronounce. Has spent time backing up Bill James in Boston, Billy Beane in Oakland, Theo Epstein in Chicago and Voros McCracken during his second stint in Boston. Once clocked Murray Chass during a brawl in Pittsburgh with vicious Odor-ian right cross.

UTIL- ? OFFNY. He's just everywhere.

SP - Tillman - $10.6M (arb)

SP -Gausman - $3.9M (arb)

SP - Jimenez - $13.5M

SP - Bundy? - $2M

SP - Gallardo - $11M

CL - Britton - $11.4M (arb)

SU - O'Day - $7M

SU - Brach - $2.9M (arb)

MR - Givens - pre-arb

MR - ? Weams, the lefty specialist. Doesn't throw that hard but has that Jesse Orosco snapdragon slurve that no one can touch.

MR - ? RZNJ. A little ornery if you piss him off, has been known to go headhunting at times. Rears back and throws straight heat, occasionally reaching triple digits. The new Kyle Farnsworth. Since he's from NJ, he has a mullet, making him a fan favorite as well.

LR - Miley - $8.92M

Putting Hardy's 10/5 benefits aside, who are you targeting to replace the hole at SS/3B? Flaherty or Janish full time?

Just seems like we'd end up creating a new hole with little benefit.

I don't know about trading Hardy....but I'm getting rid of Flaherty. You can get a Utility infielder that can't hit for the minimum.

I saw a high arb number for TJ McFarland as well.

You trade Britton because Orioles hate paying that much money to a closer, and you can

use him to either pair with a Jimenez or Gallardo for a salary dump OR use him to bring in some talent to fix holes.

Like I said I love Britton as closer, he is effective but the shelf life of top closers usually do not last.

His return value will never be higher.

I do not know what it is by I cannot stand Flaherty. It always seems whenever we need a big hit, he's at bat and usually grounds out or strikes out.

So you are saying that I get league minimum and I don't really need to get anyone out? Done

Pretty sad state of affairs. Going just based on free agents and internal options:

C- Saltalamacchia (0.5MM)

RF- Austin Jackson (4.5MM)

DH- Pearce (5MM)

BN- Bourn (1.5MM)

BN- Mancini (0.5MM)

RP- Hart (0.5MM)

RP- Drake (0.5MM)

Even that puts us a little bit over budget. In this scenario, we'd be running vs RHP either Kim in LF/DH and Pearce at DH/LF or Bourn in LF and Kim at DH. Against LHP, Pearce in LF and Mancini at DH. Offense would be a lot worse, but our OF defense would also be a lot better.

If we had money to burn, I'd be targeting Josh Reddick, Matt Holliday, Jason Castro, and Brett Cecil. Would also love to bring back Tommy Hunter. For other cheap options, Chris Coghlan and Gregor Blanco are coming off horrific seasons, but are not that old and were consistently quality players before 2016.

And no, I don't think we make the playoffs again with this roster. Just the best we may be able to do with our financial situation.

Sadly most of your projections aren't even close.

Even considering his poor season Salty made 7.5 million each of the past 2 seasons. He is likely going to take a cut but not to .5 million. Jackson is likely to get 1 million more. Bourn hasn't played for under 4 million since 2009. And there is no way he does now and Boras is his agent.

Also I'm not a fan of giving Pearce 5 million.
