A tale of two Reimold's

Aside from his K rate, hasn't Reimold always been well above average in the Orioles system when he's on the field? This thread just smells to me like we're punishing a guy for being 24 in AA when we drafted him out of college in the first place (so he was 21/22) and he's had several injuries dogging his progress.

My biggest concern is the injuries unless his numbers start to lag.

Reimold didn't start tonight for some reason, but entered mid-game and homered in his first AB, got hit by a pitch in his 2nd AB.

Reimold came in for Boucher who hurt his hand and had to be removed. I'm pretty sure, at this point, that it was just supposed to be a rare night off for Reimold. Up until tonight, Reimold had played in every Baysox game.

2 reactions to this:

1) It is great that he has been healthy enough to play every game.

2) Since he has had health issues, I am surprised they haven't sat him more.

I agree on both points, but point 1 is the one I'm focused on. The O's have said that what he really needs to do is stay healthy and get a lot of AB's. So far, he's been able to do that, and the team has give him the opportunity. No doubt in my mind he needs to move to Norfolk no later than the all-star break.

For those who think AAA is a waste of time, just look at how Costanzo has struggled in the International League compared to the Eastern League. I'd really like to see how Reimold does there over 200 AB before exposing him to major league pitching.
