Should have done it for Manny.  IIRC, I wanted them to do for Manny what the Rays did for Longoria.  Longoria was a little different, IIRC he was up for like 2 or 3 weeks before the Rays gave him a sizable deal.  But still, they locked him up early.

In Longoria’s case, they delayed his debut just long enough that he wouldn’t get a full year of service time, then signed him to a long term deal four days after he debuted.

I'd have done it for Schoop as well.  Of course the actual numbers would be a bit different, a bit lower for Schoop a lot higher for Manny,

I'm very curious to see how Schoop does this year. At one point during the 2017 season the board thought he might be a better player than Manny. Now he has to prove he can be a regular again.

Curious, too.  But even if we'd signed him for a 4 million a year deal, it wouldn't be so bad if he was playing this poorly for us.

Schoop is hitting better than Manny so far in ST. Machado is off to a very slow start.

Fixed that for you.    I think a lot of people regarded Schoop highly, but very few thought he was better than Manny, except for a fleeting period.    I still like Schoop and think the Twins will be happy with what they got.
