I'm going with 54.   And I would not be shocked if we don't get the #1 overall pick.   Detroit and Kansas City could be stiff competition, except they play in a pretty weak division and get to face each other 19 times.   We need one of them to go 13-6 or better against the other.

I thought we would better than last year a month ago.  But now with anyone with any  talent in the minors and injuries to Cobb, Nunez and  Trumbo along with Bundy not getting people out it looks bleak.  Only thing positive is Tilman isnt on the team.

That's where I am with it. I was really hoping that some of the young "hungry" players would be in Baltimore...I don't think there are two players on the potential 25 man roster that will be in the majors in 5 years.

52. The law of averages says we can’t worse than last year, right?? In a cruel twist of fate, KC not only beats us with the WS on the line, but also beats us at stinking and ends up with 51 wins.

And in milbest77’s soon-to-be-famous bonus special: We draft some completely random pitcher who isn’t even in the top-10 draft lists with the first overall pick in June? The word “analytics” will be code for “signable and cheap.”

Folks will go bonkers if the O's don't spend at least 90% of their pool.

Since I already predicted that Dylan Bundy would the first Orioles pitcher to win 20 or more games in a season since Mike Boddicker did it in 1984, I am going to go ahead and predict that these Hoboken Zephyrs will have a winning season.

86 - 76.

I predicted 60 on the dot, partly out of optimism, partly out of my belief that if they make it there it'll be because they got better as the year goes along.  I'm fully expecting the beginnings are going to be rough, very rough, because the talent isn't good.  But, hopefully with some younger, hungrier players, a new coaching staff, and some progression over the course of a long season, as the season gets into the second half things will come together.

    • He’s 6th out of 118 qualified hitters in the International League in wRC+. Among the 5 in front of him are Wood, Mayo, and Kjerstad. Holliday is by far the youngest of those top 6 (and anyone else in the top 35), with Wood being over a year older than him. His batting line is indeed heavily OBP based, but he’s still 42nd out of 118 qualified hitters in ISO. That puts him in about the 65th percentile, which at his age seems pretty damn good. I think if you’re expecting him to put up the power that Kjeestad or Mayo have showed, then sure it’s disappointing. But Holliday is a different player. If he walks 10-15% of the time while putting up an above average ISO, and doesn’t K a crazy amount, he’s going to be an all star.
    • Who else would be ahead of him? I agree it is a stretch for this year but Akin may force the issue and I don't see much after him and Vespi. Davidson is interesting but could be more of a Zimmermann replacement and he's out of options.
    • The OPS is good but it's heavily OBP-based, and IMO that just doesn't translate at the ML level unless he's also slugging. And considering that AAA is a offense-oriented level this year, his numbers just don't jump off the page as impressive. Again, they do as a 20-year old, but right now they won't translate unless he's slugging consistently like Stowers and Kjerstad have, like Cowser did, and like Mayo is doing now. Because otherwise he will simply be challenged with great stuff in the zone - he's just not going to walk like that up here.  My opinion! I'm still very high on the kid. I just think it's a little early and he's going to be much improved as an overall hitter next year.
    • This is a great read. Love this young group of men our Orioles have drafted, developed and are winning with.
    • Yes! I remember that.  The difference is the old one we remember from the stadium was just a jugs machine & a projector.  The Trajekt has the ability to precisely replicate pitch shape & spin rate for every pitcher in the league.  It can also adjust the release point.  I got to see one in action a few weeks ago.  It’s very realistic.
    • Tough crowd lol. He's OPS'ing .921 - that's pretty darn good for any age, I'd contend.
    • Would prefer to hold on to McDermott but if we had to I would do this deal.  I really like the idea of Burnes, Scherzer and Grayson starting in the playoffs and we need BP help.  These guys make a real difference on our WS chances without giving up any of our top tier prospects.
