How much longer do we have to wait?

ANd Bruce stayed down until May of this year. I have been to Frederick twice and Bowie twice to see Wieters.I have seen him launch 3 long HR's. I sat behind the plate to watch him catch and he is pretty good. He will get better with time. There is more to the game and a player besides OPS, batting average etc. Just saying he is not be hurt in any way by being allowed to cultivate his catching skills, game calling knowledge and by beating the hell out of opposing pitchers. The organization and maybe Wieters is better served by practicing patience.

But Bruce was drafted out of high school and is 2 years younger.

There were much more legitimate reasons for leaving him down in the minors, IMO.

No its not and if you believe this, it is obvious you aren't paying attention to anything anyone has to say about this.

We just disagree. I am reading what others are saying. He is wearing it out at AA but others before him have done the same. He is not being hurt by playing at Bowie.

Staying at AA may not be hurting his development, but is it helping it?:scratchchinhmm:

Okay CalJr. WHy would Weitrs come up now? You know as well as i do that with Ramon still on the team Weiters will not be in Baltimore.

He is most likely better than Ramon right now. The only thing keeping Wieters down is Ramon, IMO. As soon as we can move him, I think Wieters will be up.

I think it is. He is learning how to catch and call games plus his confidence is being built up. Ramon is here and is going to catch. At times he has done well at the plate. Right now is one of those times. I think Wieters could come up and match Ramon's output offensively and MAYBE do better. What I want is him to come up and improves us dramatically defensively. I am not sure he is ready just yet for that.

The reasons for keeping MW in the minors are pretty straightforward.

Ramon needs AB's to build up trade value, there's no sense in eating that contract when we may yet be able to move him. There's absolutely no need to bring MW up here until he's going to be our regular catcher.

If Ramon is moved then MW can come up and replace him but even then he has done a lot of catching this year, including winter ball in Hawaii. It may be more beneficial for him to rest his knees in September.

These are the only reasons I can agree with for keeping Matt out of Baltimore.

What? Have you watched Ramon? He doesn't give a target, he is lazy behind the plate, calls a poor game and doesn't throw out runners at a good enough rate.

Wieters is, WITHOUT QUESTION, a CLEAR upgrade over Ramon in EVERY facet of the game.

Well the last 28 days Ramon is a 909 OPS hitter.

For the season Ramon is 9th in the AL in VORP. 8th really since Posada is out for the year.

Who cares? He had an OPS below 700 for a lot of the year...All the 909 OPS does is make it easier to deal him.

We should be unloading him as quickly as possible and if someone claimed him off of waivers, i would let Ramon go for free.

I don't disagree with that statement, but there is no way Wieters out hits Ramon if he was called up today to the Majors.
