As soon as a better internal, prospect option at 1B becomes available, I would expect to see Davis' plate appearances decline significantly.  

Mancini is a first baseman. He certainly counts as “an internal option”

There is no reason, except for that stupid contract, to keep Davis around.

He was on the 2017 Astros.  I'd hate to sign a guy only to see him get suspended and a third of his salary docked.

If Elias says we have room for one more MLB contract, its gotta be a pitcher.   Just too much uncertainty around every option.  Worst case scenario, Means could be a fluke and go , Cobb gets hurt taking the mound in his first start, Wojo is AAAA starter, etc.  Elias needs to get one some-what durable reliable starter.  Below is who is left, who does he choose? Which are going to require an MLB contract?

If he’s going to sign another picture, I could really see it being someone with Houston ties, and because his last couple of years were full of injury and diminished performance, I bet he can get Collin McHugh cheap, and I cast my vote for him, although I admit that I have a strong bias in favor of McHugh.

The guys who I think are either essentially done or too terrible to give a MLB deal to Anderson, Bettis, Bucholz, Chen, Estrada, Hellickson, Holland,Jackson, Miller, Ramirez,Richard. 

I would think Walker, Cashner, Chacin, McHugh, Sanchez, Salazar are in the more possible realm and lesser likely but maybe are , Vargas, Cahill, Harvey. 

My best guess is Walker.   But I would be OK with any of those I suppose.

Walker is the youngest, just back from TJ and was cut loose to avoid a $5 M commitment.

He probably is looking for ML contract with good opportunity for innings. Who is a better fit than Bal?

I was wondering what it happened to him? The Mariners traded him to Arizona, I think, and then he vanished from the scene. I would love to sign Collin McHugh, I’ve always been a big fan of his, but if Walker is all the way back from surgery, I can’t think of anybody who would be a better choice

He pitched 1 inning in game 162 and was 92 on FB and 11 of 15 pitches were strikes per CBS sportsline. I hope some pitching savants here can provide more.

I doubt the O's would pay over 1m in salary for a starter.

Thanks for putting the list together. I’d want Sanchez, Vargas, Estrada. Those are the only players I’d offer a mlb deal to.  

The rest of those guys on that last have serious injury and/or performance issues. I’ll never be mad at an milb deal though. 

We can offer 30-35 GS. Would they take an Iglesias type deal of 1/$3million?

That's what I was envisioning when Elias said one more MLB contract able to be offered.  Do any of these pitching options need to be offered more to get them to sign?  Be nice to grab one of McHugh or Walker.  I wonder if Cashner takes a milb deal with $1mil salary if he makes the team?

That was give us Means, Walker/McHugh, Cobb, Cashner, Wojo to start the season.   That rotation might not be half bad if all goes well.
