There is an error in the game summary. Alex Cobb gave up a solo home run, which was an earned run charged to him while he was on the mound. The bases were empty when Paul Fry relieved him.

I’m curious why the error at third was in Santander’s throw and not on Valiaka muffing the bounce. It was a short throw, but it didn’t seem like a difficult bounce.

I would disagree.  Looked to me like the ball took a very high hop over Valaika's glove.

Too bad for Fry.  If the runner had been out at third, as he deserved to be, Fry would have gotten out of the inning without being scored upon.

For that matter, if the runner had held at second, as he should have, Plawecki's bouncer up the middle would have resulted in an easy inning-ending forceout at second base, instead of being an RBI infield single.

Cobb was very good today and he and Hyder both said he wasn't totally there yet. His "splitty" wasn't the devastating weapon it can be. He can be better.
