Taking Joey Bart's job!    Just as we always knew, in 2022 Austin Wynns was going to become the man his team had to turn to when its elite NCAA catcher couldn't cut it.

Yes. Was actually getting ready to head to Omaha with a friend to see him play when he told me to hold off due to the trade.

He has changed his stance and is now standing a bit more upright and also has his hands back. While we haven’t talked much “shop,” it looks like it cut down on his bat movement during the swing, as he shortened up the initial “load” when bringing his hands back, allowing him to get through the zone quicker.

Also worked on his strike zone recognition. He’s always seemed to take pitches before, but now he seemed to be better at not swinging at horrible “pitchers” pitches and fouling off stuff close to the zone.

His mentality also seems different. Said he wanted to be a tougher out. Seems to be going well.

Phillips won that battle with a strike out.

I never would have guessed five years ago that Ryan Flaherty would have managed an MLB game by the year 2022.
