I'm not surprised to learn he was close with Trembley, and Buck was generally in eyeroll mode.

He played Wieters 7/7 before first using the backup catcher (get ready, Adley!), and I was at this game.   The Rangers and Orioles both had hot 6-1 starts; for the Orioles it was a continuation of the hot Buck 2010 finish (Orioles 1-4 in 2011 draft = Dylan Bundy, 1-1 in 2011 draft = Gerrit Cole).

What I remember from the newspaper the next day (what a quaint old world it was then) was the tone of Buck's comments.   I don't remember them precisely, but it stands out as the most I've ever heard a manager make it sound like a SP letting in 8 runs was the catcher's fault.

It wasn't House but he was brought in the same time as House, not Fox.  I remember a lot of people were hopeful he could establish himself with the team.

Hmmm.... who was the guy we had who won the Triple Crown at AA?

My 57 year old brain isn't doing a very good job coming up with names right now.
