Like his stuff. Can he get ML hitters out?

I think it would be nice to not push him today. He's shown success as a reliever. Wouldn't mind them getting him through four or so throwing gas then bringing in LeBlanc for another four or so, then one inning remaining for Valdez or another guy in the pen.

Over 6 in 2019.

Over 6 again with us in 2020.

His career WHIP is 1.50.

What are we expecting to get here exactly?  Not trying to be a overt pessimist.

Realistically, just hoping to catch lightning in a bottle for a few weeks/couple of months before reality sets in.   He had a nice spring so hopefully that momentum continues for a little while.

Sometimes he looks good one time through the order.  I think a combo of Lopez and LeBlanc for 6 competitive innings would be a win.

Looking under the hood a bit, last year he was very good as a starter facing batters in their first PA (first time through the order). .605 OPS against first time through as a starter, with that number jumping to .966 and 1.048 on the second turn.

The current Yankees are 9 for 34 against Lopez with a .533 OPS.   only two XBH.

Someone to put up some innings until one of Baumann, Lowther, Wells or Akin proves himself ready to get ML hitters out.

I hope we can get 5 to 6 innings tonight out of our starter Jorge-Wade LeBlanc-Lopez.

If we are still in the game at that point, we hand it over to our good relievers.   If we aren't, Ben's nephew gets gets to make his major league debut.

Not a lot of soft spots in that lineup.   Unless Bruce is washed up.   Hate playing the Yankees early, before Stanton and Judge have had a chance to go on the disabled list.

No. Thing is, even w/ the mistake to Judge I thought he looked ok. Then, the wheels fell off.

I saw him beat Giancarlo with a middle middle fastball in a challenge spot.   He'll have a shot at the Kendall Graveman things later this year.

As ever if we were maximizing Wins fifth starter maybe profiles wouldn't be tasked with more than 18 Yankees any given night.
