Obviously, I was being ironic because many on here hated the last two first round picks(Also, some wanted Witt Jr instead of AR). My last three picks were under slot but high schoolers instead of the college guys Me picked.  Abrams, Abel and Benny Montgomery.

You calling him out on basic misunderstanding of who the 2018 Orioles were was great.   I'm long past the point of expecting to get anything from regular baseball media (writing for the audience of dwindling millions of casual fans) that I don't get better here from Tony, Rick, Steve, Jon, you, etc.   And nowhere else is there an ombudsman/Greek chorus like Can of Corn.

If 1989 was the "Why Not" season then 2021 is the "Why Bother?" season.    Going back to September 2017, .321 winning percentage over the last 533 games.

In fairness, both of them were making a point about how baseball incentivized tanking.   And that point was true.  But for me, the O’s were always on a path that made sense.  And now, there can be no doubt about that.

This probably isn't going to be a popular take right now but I will say that how the team has done this year shows that they didn't need to show up with an intentionally noncompetitive roster in 2021.

I don't think anyone had an issue with the 2018 sell off or the 2019 tank.

Yeah, but it wasn’t until the Orioles did it that there was suddenly a huge problem. THAT’S the issue here. Hell, MLB didn’t even change the draft order rules and implement the lottery system until the O’s got a bunch of high picks from tanking. Houston and many other teams megatanked to set themselves up for the future previously and MLB/Olney/Rosenthal didn’t make a peep. It’s a steaming load of BS.
