"The Athletic" says it's his elbow, not his triceps:

Myriad Orioles Thoughts: Middle-infield mix, veteran additions, not worrying about Adley Rutschman’s elbow yet – The Athletic

Rutschman, baseball’s top prospect, has been held out of on-field workouts the past few days because he developed some elbow soreness after playing in an intrasquad game Friday. It shouldn’t keep the catcher out long.

“He’s just getting treatment right now,” Hyde said. “And I’m just hoping he’s out there in the next couple days.”

Ruh roh.

He felt elbow soreness but the issue is stemming from the triceps it sounds like.

I hope you just missed the sarcasm emoji!

Rutschman is 24 years old, when he gets healthy and gets some rehab at bats in at AAA, he should be up in the majors playing this year. Which unsurprisingly will be after the Orioles gain an extra year of service time now.

Only kind of sarcastic. I see no light at the end of the tunnel with this team. My prediction. AR will come up during the summer, the O's will win 60 games. Two years from now the O's will manage to win 70, but it will be time to rebuild, so we will have to move AR to get a few AA players with high upsides.

This reeks of one of those injuries that...oh, it's nothing bad, no big deal....oh, yeah, just taking a week longer than expected....yep, should be good to go, just getting treatment....oh, this is worse than we thought, might take a month...yep, we're shutting him down for the season.

Then hold him out till May 2023 and get another year of service time!

My tinfoil hat goes the other way here...I wonder if the MLBPA is wanting their doctor to get an independent consult.  (Except that, gosh I guess, Adley isn't a member yet...)

How does media access to Adley work this week?   MASN Orioles gave him to the gaggle for that heartwarming segment a few days back.    Will national reporters get to talk with him the next few days how he's feeling?

I'd hoped for better but on some level am about as surprised by this development as Chris Davis "tweaking something" on plate appearance 1 last spring.

Probably a blessing in disguise as it dulls the service time manipulation complaints if he comes up a few weeks into the season, but still a bummer.

I’m actually almost happy about it, so long as the injury doesn’t turn out to be more serious than it appears.   I’d really like to have the 7th year of team control but it would have really felt wrong to hold Adley back for no reason.   Now there’s a very legit reason.   Get him healthy, have him spend 30 days in the minors, and bring him up with a clear conscience.

I’m also really glad we signed Chirinos.
