This sucks.  I guess it’s better to go ahead and get the surgery now and not dilly dally around with other treatments.

It varies.   11-18 months normally.  I’d say we’d be lucky if he plays half a season next year.

At least they didn’t drag this decision out over a few months. Better to do it now and start the rehab process sooner.

It’s not exactly a surprise so it makes it hurt less but it still sucks. Maybe the only good that could come from it is that we can be sure that Means will be around for the playoff push next year?

Good luck, John!    No reason you can't be like Jose Leclerc, James Paxton, Tyler Glasnow or Kenta Maeda this year, and have a shot at pitching meaningful late summer baseball next year.

I think he goes to Aberdeen and has to prove himself at each level of competition. 

A little more seriously, I would guess he won't be rushed and we'll see him in September 2023.  Another indication that the goal for 2023 will be limited, measured improvement, not anything approaching a competitive team.

I believe at this hour they still have that arbitration hearing coming up.   I am seeing onesies twosies of guys settling with their teams in the last week or two.

Sucks but not a shocker. Glad they are getting it out of the way instead of doing the "try three months of rest and then get surgery anyway" approach.
