No he's not. You must think every other front office is staffed by idiots. He's going to have to do a lot more than hit .143 and not look completely out of place in the field to start moving the needle on his trade value. -

It’s tougher but plenty of traditional powerhouse/very good teams draft late and put out good systems. -
The best thing Norby can do while he is up is contribute to the Os winning games. The next best thing he can do is show other teams he is worthy of being traded for. -
100% Gunnar was obviously a fantastic pick as the "1st" pick of the 2nd round. Of course, that was not my point of this piece. The point was the fact that the college hitter approach has not really paid off and they have yet to draft and develop a major league pitcher after 5 drafts. -

But it's wouldn't be for one year. He has an OPS+ of 142. His OPS+ post all star break in 2023? 143. When you are talking about someone who is going to have ~2200 at bats ~800 at bats is a decent sample size. -
The more I watch Burnes pitch, the more I think that some of this decline in K rate is on purpose. He seems to attack weak contact a lot, especially earlier in the AB. But when he needs a K, he is still very capable of getting one. I’d love for someone to ask him about that, he just seems like a next level guy who is so comfortable with his stuff that he is trying to get you out quickly and weakly.

Still being the operative word. We have had success up and down the draft. Gunnar alone puts us ahead of the game. How many teams have a better group of second rounders from 2019-21 than Gunnar, Mayo, Ortiz, Stowers, and Hernaiz? I do think it will get tougher now that we won't have 1/1. Effectively our picks will start where we have been picking in the second round. I have much lower expectations moving forward, not because I think Elias will do a bad job but because we are in a more challenging drafting position.
