Leaving Bradish in felt like forefiting the game. Didn't seem like there was any scenario where he was getting out of that. To pull him now is almost a waste if you were trying to eat innings before.

They might feel as if leaving Bradish in there to soak up innings while he's not able to be competitive could be damaging to him either physically or mentally.

Or maybe Hyde is just itching to let a position player pitch tonight?

Look, these nights happen with pitchers. But a good manager has to know when to get him out before it blows up completely.

I would have had Voth up and ready if Bradish put two guys on the next inning. But to let him load the bases on three hard hits and then let him pitch to another guy with no one up is ridiculous.

Just a poor feel.

And why waste Baumann here? Why not turn it over to Voth and let him extend? Instead Hyde wants to use one of his better relievers down 7-0 in the 3rd inning.

Not sure why Baumann is warming.  When you're in the 3rd inning and are down enough to only have an expected 2% win percentage, you put your trash time pitcher in.  That's not Baumann.

Exactly. It's like Hyde has no idea how to use a pitcher like Voth.

To be fair, other than Voth who is in the bullpen who is not good?

Voth or Akin?  It's not Bautista, Baker, Coulombe, Cano or Perez.

Right, you're basically forced to pull him now to protect their psyche/ERA. I just mean that the only theoretical reason you would leave Bradish in with the way he looked was if you want him to eat innings even at the expense of the game, but now you're going to lose and you're into the bullpen.

If the rationale was that Bradish had a better chance of getting out of that than the long reliever, then we shouldn't even carry long relievers, because Bradish looked as bad as imaginable.
