Ragans is the big get - he is now at 65 MLB innings, so just graduated prospect lists.

Oh ok. That would explain things better. I saw one site had him 25th but nothing else higher than that.

His numbers suck though.

Seems like an offer the Os easily could have beaten.

Gave up their 2016 first round pick pitcher who has struggled in limited MLB action and some 17-year-old.

We could have easily beaten this offer. This looks like the equivalent of Drew Rom and a DSL lottery ticket. Yeah, I know, character issues, but this would have been a huge help to our bullpen.

Ragans is 1st round pedigree, and 90th percentile plus performance in K-BB among PCL pitchers with 50 innings the last 2 seasons....he's I think more than Rom or Povich.

10-minute reaction hits me a little like Eduardo/Andrew Miller, though old Aroldis nowhere near young Andrew.

Its one solid data point though for what the 2023 market will become.     Deadline not even until month of August, and we get a substantial value opener in the month of June.

Not too unusual to see a few deals around now.  The Arrieta deal was a June deal.

Baltimore Orioles: Acquire Lucas Giolito

The Orioles were criticized for not doing much to upgrade their pitching staff in the offseason, but they've defied the critics with a surprising first half. Still, the rotation ranks just 21st in the majors ERA despite playing in pitcher-friendly Camden Yards. Cole Irvin and Grayson Rodriguez have both struggled in the fifth slot with ERAs over 7.00, so that's an easy upgrade -- and the Orioles are loaded with infielders at the big league and Triple-A levels whom they could include in a deal for a quality starter. Giolito might be the best of the lot as he heads to free agency, and as the White Sox continue to struggle, he's an easy guy to target. He has bounced back from a rough 2022 and has pitched particularly well in June.

Did you know that the board has a quote function?  So folks can see that you are quoting a piece of text and not just witting something.  For instance:

Quote

The following is a list of the unique formatting that is needed for block quotations:

  1. Block quotations start on their own line.
  2. The entire block quotation is indented 0.5 inches, the same as the indentation for a new paragraph, and is double spaced.
  3. Block quotations are not surrounded by any quotation marks.
  4. The punctuation at the end of the block quotation goes before the citation.
  5. The ending citation is included on the last line of the block quotation.
  6. The text after the block quotation begins on its own line, with no indentation. You should not end a paragraph with a block quotation because any quotation you use as evidence in your writing should be followed by analysis in your own words as part of the same paragraph.

Yes..but it doesn’t work well on the mobile device.  But thanks for the tutorial, your info is always desired.
