Starts at 2pm. Rounds 3-10. We pick 86 and 100 to start.

There’s lots of HS SS still out there. Are they willing to sign for Rd. 3 money?  It looks like Pitching will be BPA when we draft. Will Elias draft more?

I’d like to see us draft Cooper Pratt HS SS. Has drawn Gunnar comps. He probably has big time salary demands and wouldn’t be an option until rd 11-20. The VT OF looks good too. Hurley.

Center fielders and RH pitchers. Odd focus.

When we talk about trades and minor league depth, the focus is IF and COF.  And we have 3 C's to build around.  Honestly, it makes sense to me.  Just different than the athletic MI focus of the last few years.

I'd like to see us take chances on Carson Montgomery SP from FSU and Cam Brown SP from TCU.  Both came in highly regarded and have big time stuff.  They just struggled and there is so much pressure to win at the big time NCAA schools.  Both big dudes.  They might just need some coaching, confidence, mechanical adjustments, and some experience.  Let them finish out the year in the FCL and get some confidence.

So, 7 pitchers in our top 12 picks in the first 10 rounds of the draft, all college RHP.   The other 5 are college OF.   Guess we didn't see a Henderson or Mayo we liked this year.

Deep draft with NCAA talent. We can look for a high end HS talent in rounds 11-20.

It's never easy, but wondering if Elias is realizing the trade market for SPs (and signing of FAs) is now beyond his perceived baseline and is like eff it, bats for arms isn't even in our favor now. Gotta think most are asking for our "untouchables" because we have a surplus of great ones and he values our bats more than the arms being discussed. Guess we'll find out in the next couple weeks.

"Just cause we have x, y, and z that doesn't diminish the value of w." "But he's your 4th best!" "Aaaaand?...... could very well provide you the same value as x, maybe y"

So, because the Orioles have a bigger checking account the cost of the car is higher for them than the next guy? I don’t follow

This is definitely a new draft strategy. Not just drafting at #17, but being thin on minor league pitching. I like that we're restocking the pitching talent, as that is a serious need. But that probably means we're not drafting the best player available. Hopefully we can strike gold and find a top-of-the-rotation starter with one of these picks. No one really stands out in that respect, but this is where our player development crew will earn their paycheck.
