If Cowser goes back down to Norfolk before turning things around up here it’s hard to see that inspiring the confidence of trading away someone like Santander.   And Kjerstad hasn’t been tested at all yet.  I believe both players will hit but Elias isn’t going into next season putting all his eggs in those two baskets.

There are two maybe three months left in the 2023 season.   Cowser and Kjertad have that time to show improvement.

Cowser has until Hicks and Mullins come back.   What he does back at Norfolk is meaningless at this point.   Kjerstad probably doesn’t get a chance this season.

That's a good point but it assumes no injuries.

What I do know is both were promoted to the majors a year  before they had to be protected from the Rule 5 draft.  Does Elias know what he is doing or not.

"Does Elias know what he s doing?" In what regard? And what does that have to do with the evaluation that you appeared to be making that Cowser could replicate similar production to Gunnar?

I don't think drat status is relevant at all. Or else that would mean that there would/should be 29 prospects who are better than Gunnar since he was not taken as a first rounder.

When I personally just look at the bodies/movements/athleticism/coordination of Gunnar and Cowser, I see a VERY BIG difference. That doesn't mean that Cowser cant/won't be good. But I don't see a interchangeable athletes/players when looking at the 2.

Ortiz should be up... and if he's not this week, I doubt the O's plans to play him regularly when he is recalled.

What is this in regard to? I thought you said that Cowser could give us production comparable to Santander? Maybe I read what you wrote wrong?
