Kevin Brown calls every inning of every game for the rest of the year or Austin Hays plays every inning of every game for the rest of the year. You have to choose one.

This is absurd.

I’m driving Hays to the airport though.

How about if Kevin Brown just read aloud every Roy Firestone game thread post, real time?

Kevin Brown is terrible. Wagner is terrific, and Gregg Olson and Wagner seem to be a great pairing. I’d like it to continue.

I thought Geoff Arnold was in the booth with Olson?

I'm not a huge Kevin Brown fan, I think he goes too far off topic and gets weirdly self indulgent at times BUT he is far and away the best we have, from G Arnold (mediocre) to M Newman (horrible).  I prefer Brown by a mile and I do think he keeps getting better.

Finally gotten to listen to Ben Wagner on the radio a few times the past couple weeks and have been very impressed.   He is excellent.

I admittedly have not been through the whole thread, but is this the same Kevin Brown that a lot of people had their panties twisted up about last season when JA gave him a timeout? He's about the best that the O's have right now. We can only hope that with new ownership they'll work on the MASN side this winter.

I like Wagner better, but Arnold is good too. I get them mixed up, but I think the one I liked best was Wagner and Olson. Isn’t Arnold usually with Scott Garceau?

This is really the only place where there is any sort of vocal opposition to Kevin Brown — a place that skews pretty heavily older than average, overwhelmingly male, and unanimously obsessed with baseball as a stand-alone pastime. The dogmatic baseball purist/traditionalist is probably not his strongest demographic, with Mr. Firestone standing as an outspoken exception to that rule.

There definitely need to be changes/improvements to MASN, but replacing Kevin Brown is a change that will only occur if he chooses to leave for greener pastures.

That’s because the vast majority of the fanbase loves Kevin Brown. Particularly the portion that the O’s are assuredly targeting to keep their fanbase growing and vibrant. That being the portion that doesn’t deeply yearn for the days when commentators primarily just announced the action on the field and otherwise remained mostly stoic and silent, so that the only interruption of the ambient noise was the occasional propeller plane flying overhead and perhaps the light crackle of static on dad’s old transistor radio.

All MASN equipment is destroyed and can't be replaced from China until 2025 and the only way to "enjoy" games is listening to play by play with Melanie Newman or Vieira is the O's closer for the rest of the year.

The whole game last night I'm thinking "I really like Gregg Olson the person, but these guys aren't even half as good as Brown and McDonald."

    • Saturday's game was epically bad and not the type of loss a team on the upswing into the playoffs would suffer and one that I certainly hate to witness. I couldn't watch most of the game Sunday, but I wouldn't DVR it and then peek at the score either, I don't think that I would ever watch if I knew the outcome of a game in advance. The surprise elation (Gunnar's bases loaded double) and the agony of the non-send and inability to hit a sac fly is what keeps me coming back, old fool that I am.
    • Predicting what the attendance will do next year is like predicting Hurrican season in January.  There are so many outside factors that it is just a guess.  How will they finish the year, how much will the spend in the offseason, how many corporations want to get ticket plans,   how is the economy in 6 months, how do they play next season what teams we play and when, will teams like Red Sox, Yankees and big draws play well.   I also think one of the biggest factors is what corporations want to sponsor give aways and what time of promotions will they run.  If you look at attendance some of the largest attendance games minus the Phillies, Yankees games are for the best giveaway souvenirs.
    • I’m a big supporter of Brandon Hyde, but the last game against Detroit I think he made a mistake. Second and third, nobody out….I would have had mullins bunt. He’s a good bunter, and with holiday at third I think that’s walk off.
    • So I guess Ohtani decided he was bored this year since he wasn’t pitching or playing the field, and decided to steal bases just to have something else to do besides hit.
    • I’d say maybe they would have reached 2013 levels (2.357 mm), which would have been about another 76,000 fans.  I seriously doubt they would have reached 2014 (2.464 mm, another 183,000 fans).
    • Great point. You are right Frobby. It wouldn't have been quite as bad if the Orioles dropped these series and they had to face Skubal both times but to be fortune enough not to get him either time and still lose 4 of 6 was even more disheartening.
    • Pretty much exactly what I am thinking.  I even had to cut back on my watching the games because the frustration was killing me.  Now I save all games on DVR and peek at the score if it is safe to watch.  This is odd because when the Orioles suck and they are far below .500 I watch every single game.  Sometimes every single inning of the year.   Crazy if the Orioles had STARTED the year sucking and had to spend the last two months in an amazing race to catch up for a chance for the playoffs we would all be thrilled.   But end the season on a three month skid of misery and the same playoff spot just feels empty.
