The Orioles will not win the 2023 WS, and may not make the playoffs...and that is Ok

I said MAY NOT make the playoffs.  A month later I said they will.

I said WILL NOT win the WS.

Do the words MAY NOT and WILL NOT mean anything different to you both?

If not?  I suggest you go back to first grade for your stupid comments.

Yeah I know exactly what you said. When you 1st made the post it was dumb.  They were virtually a lock when you made it.  You were wrong.  That's why you were, correctly, ridiculed. But you've been told this and you don't listen.  Some people are able to blissfully go through life never thinking they're never wrong about anything.

You just described yourself to a T.

You know why?  Because I was dead on correct.

He just doesn’t understand the simple concept of why his comment was so foolish.

Well this wasn't even close.  In fact this is embarrassing.

I made this original post about this exact thing (lack of talent) in the summer and got completely ridiculed for it by all of  the cheerleaders here.

If you really look at our line up.  As in REALLY look at it?

We do not have the star players to compete....yet.

Anytime we played a Dodgers or an Astros or even a Rangers?  We were and are over matched.

Stop deluding yourselves.

Holy cow what a loser you are. On here to gloat about the O’s losing.

The only problem I had with the OP was the idea that it would be “OK” if the Orioles missed the playoffs.   There was a chance it could happen at that point, but it would have taken a big choke job that would not have been “OK” in my book.

The worse post came a month later, after the O’s had gone 20-10 in the interim, suggesting that the O’s would “struggle” to make the playoffs.  That was statistically ridiculous.   I think the O’s clinched their playoff spot 4-5 days later, with 14 games to play.   They finished the season 12 games ahead of what was required to make the playoffs.

But now we should just get into the discussion of what the team needs to get better.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hate to beat a dead horse  but seeing the Astros and Rangers battle it out tonight and all week is exactly why I made this thread during the summer.

IMO both of these teams would have crushed the Os in the ALCS games (of course the Rangers did crush the O's 2 weeks ago).  I said it back when I made this post and I will say it again, and this is from watching the O's play Houston, the Rangers, and the Dodgers all year.  Yes the O's could beat them if things go right, but you could just tell those teams were just "better".

And when you add in the pressure of the playoffs?  Much better.  The Astros for example remind me of the Patriots with Brady.  May not dominate all year, but when the pressure was on in the playoffs?  You just KNEW they would be tough to beat.  Hard to explain other than you just know.  When the times comes, the stars rise to the top like what happened with the Astros tonight.  Os are still searching for that.

I think the O's, IF they play most of their young guys next year and don't do anymore Frazier type signings, have a ok chance to win it all next year, and a VERY GOOD  chance in 2025.  The players that are now performing for the Astros?  Will be the type the O's have in the coming years.

Looking forward to it.

No team has a very good chance at winning a World Series in a given year.

Stars rise to the top, just like Alek Thomas did last night.   The D backs have about as many stars as the Orioles and they are 2-2 in the LCS.

Dbacks are a terrific comp for the O’s and a perfect surrogate for the rest of the post season.
