The Orioles will not win the 2023 WS, and may not make the playoffs...and that is Ok

No one will miss you when your time here is done.

Such a welcoming attitude.  Rag on a new member for months.  In every post directed to me telling me what an idiot I am.  And then get butt hurt when I finally say something back.

Just lol.

See the problem?

You can't have it both ways.  You can't say any team can get hot and then say you could be sure that the O's couldn't be that team.

Btw you made a big deal of telling me how wrong I was about this subject.

I respond with this...

"Well I mean, the Indianapolis Colts CAN GET HOT and CAN WIN the Super Bowl this year.

I am 100% sure they will not.  More than 100% if that is possible.  I would put every dime I have on that statement.

So I can have it both ways.  I can say any team can get hot and then also say that IMO I  could be sure that the O's couldn't be that team this year.

Why?  Because it was my opinion.  I even just said a post ago I wish I had been wrong."

And you don't say a word.  Which is what I thought you would do when I made the post.   Ignore it.

I'm not on the welcoming committee, you've got me confused with someone else.

I know the playful avatar throws folks off.

Can We finally lock this  pathetic  thread by this pathetic person

Pretty pathetic to me how you guys, all in your little cliques, try and chase away legit Oriole fans just because you don't agree with them.

Seen it from you all a million times.

Even sadder that you are all allowed to do it.

You are some of the most negative people I have ever come across.

Sad!

In the American League?  I would say Houston, the Rays, Toronto and especially Texas are the teams to worry about.

Houston because they just win and have been there before....many times.  Kind of like how the Colts used to have issues with the Pats even though the Colts usually had more talent.  The Patriots were just winners.

Toronto and the Rays because I think they are more talented right now.   Texas just because they are playing out of their freaking minds.

Well I think I nailed that one. :)

And it really did come down to what I said in the OP of this thread.  The O's just were not talented enough.....yet.

Texas was and is.

You’re a legend in your own mind.   You picked 4 teams and Texas was the hottest team in baseball at the time, winning 9 of their last 10.  I was feeling sorry for you when they started getting a little nasty with you but you must be a glutton for punishment.

When you posted the thread, Texas really was “playing out of their freaking minds,” as you said.   They were 70-47 at the time, and had won 8 games in a row.  So, seeing Texas as a top contender was a logical.  They had the second best record in the league at the time.  I don’t think it took a rocket scientist to see them as a threat.

The rest of the regular season, they went 20-25.   They lost 3 of their last 4 to blow a division that had been theirs for the taking.  So, I’m not sure it was so obvious that Texas was a top contender on October 1 as it had been on August 12 when you made your post.

The bottom line on Texas was they were a streaky team all year.  They had a great offense, which was close to unstoppable when they got on a roll.   They got hot at the right time, and they won the World Series.   Congrats to them.

    • I have a ton of faith in the FO, but the way the poll was worded, had to cast my vote a little lower.   We won't know for years - if ever - which offers were made but rejected. Grayson has given everything I was hoping for from Bradish.  Burnes has exceeded the hype.  So, we need to replace the #3/#4 pitcher we expected Grayson to be.  Suarez is still a great surprise.  Kremer, in my mind, is trending upward.  A solid #3 would be thrilling. On the reliever front, one solid (non-elite) leverage-type reliever can push Tate/Baker/Akin back to Tidewater and make the whole BP look better.  And Coloumbe returns for the push. I guess I'm saying we don't need an ace and a closer, but a #3 and a 7th inning specialist.  Should be doable.
    • Faith.  I hope he trades all of the prospects that are clearly blocked, and get some players we can use.
    • Hays has certainly hit a lot better lately but he is just feasting on LHP’s. His wRC+ against RHP’s is 73, so he should not be taking any AB’s away against RHP’s from Cowser (or Mullins/Kjerstad/Santander assuming they are all healthy).  So much has been made about Cowser’s offense (for good reason) that it seems like the fact that he’s been the best defensive player on the team on a per game basis gets lost. With his defense and base running value, he doesn’t even have to be a great hitter to be valuable, like Kjerstad. His floor is closer to Mullins, yet it seems like he’s judged very differently. Put another way, if Mullins had Cowser’s overall offensive line right now, with his exit velo’s and quality of contact, nobody would be calling for him to lose playing time. It just seems odd that a rookie that has been so good defensively and has so many good offensive qualities (average exit velocity, chase rate, barrel %) is getting so much heat right now. He definitely does need to be better with RISP and in high leverage situations, and shouldn’t get an unlimited leash, but he’s not going to get better unless he keeps getting chances to work things out. And if he does work things out (as we saw in April) or even can replicate his season line to date the rest of the way, he’s likely the most valuable OF’er on the team.
    • I was definitely joking around, but I bet the combined career WAR of several if not the majority of teams top ten will be less than the WAR the Orioles get out of Henderson.    ps. The entire top ten of a team, not the ten lists of multiple teams. Is that clear? My sleep gummy is kicking in, I’m in a legal state, and, well, grammar and writing clarity is getting challenging.
    • Coby is in Memphis tonight.Thats all I know.
    • It would take a Teams entire top 10.
    • Elias has to get off his butt and trade him. Peak trade value now.        😃
