So they're going for the extra year? When can Holliday come up?

Technically in a couple weeks, but super two is June, and then if you wait until June you may as well wait until July just in case he wins ROY, but at that point you may as well wait until Sepetember so he maintains rookie status for next year, and at the point you may as well do the whole process again because Orioles prospects can't play in the majors until they are at least 24 - 25 and minor league system rankings are most important

This would almost get me to support firing Elias.

Almost.

Fortunately this has zero chance of becoming reality.

I sure hope not. Not sure I would watch much if that happens. This is the first time I have really questioned Elias' decisions. I think it's a bad one.

It might have been PR speak, but it was bad PR speak.  The club didn’t get any benefit from raising public expectations about Holiday making the team, but now they get bad PR and disappointed fans and players.

There would be a very different reaction if Elias had said prior to spring training: “We have a strong organizational philosophy that prospects should get a few hundred PAs in AAA before promotion.  Now that’s not written in stone and I never say never.  However, a lot of stars would need to align.”

I don't disagree at all.  He overhyped the possibilities that Holliday would make the roster, got everyone excited and now popped our enthusiasm balloons, so to speak.   He would have been better off to have downplayed the chances for sure.

Hope Elias doesnt turn out to be a secret Sith Lord like George Lucas.

So we are sending Jackson Holliday, the former first overall draft pick and consensus #1 prospect in the sport, who just OPS'd over .950 in MLB Spring Training, to AAA so we can keep...Tyler Nevin? Ryan McKenna? Some other AAAA guy we scoop up off of the waiver wire?

What a joke.

So...

C - Adley
1B - Mounty
2B - Westburg
SS - Gunnar
3B - Urias
LF - Hays
CF - Mullins
RF - Santander
DH - O'Hearn

Bench - Cowser, Mateo, McCann

Final spot: McKenna, Wong, or Nevin

Opening day Vs. a lefty sees McKennas/McCann in the lineup, O'Hearn/Mullins out definitely not our best lineup on OD

It makes no sense.  I wanted the Orioles to be a classy org after the evil midget finally sold us.  But no.  We wont fix our Wongs anytime soon.

That's for sure. Lucas has become a complete patsy and caving to Disney which has ruined his franchise and legacy. Elias trying to do the same w/ the O's.

Also seeing the news that the Rangers are promoting Langford just rubs salt in the wound.

And to top it off Elias punched the German Shepard puppy right in the face.

Instead of getting us that beautiful - substitute - Golden Retriever - Because a German Shepard would have punched back!

Well, guess I was wong. Unbelievable. Can't wait for the rest of this story.............

The fans.

Holiday has been hyped by the sport (not just our local market but much of the MLB marketing machine) all offseason. And then to be told a week before opening day, "sorry sport nice try maybe next time" is not the best way to treat the fans if you want to grow your customer base, especially given the history of this org in the last 30 or so years.

That doesn't really answer my question, but I will say that I 100% do not want Elias making decisions based on what the fans / customer base wants.

Roster Resource now guessing at McCann-Mateo-Cowser-McKenna bench, with Mateo earning the highlight as O'Hearn's platoon partner.

I guess that envisions Westburg 2B to 3B, R. Urias 3B to 1B-DH, and Mateo in at 2B against lefties ala Sandoval-Detmers.

    • I have two tickets to Game 1 of the WC which I cannot use due to work travel.  Section 352, row 4, seats 9 & 10.  Asking $70 total for the two.  Paid $205 to the Orioles as a season plan member.   PM me if interested.  Paypal preferred.
    • Can't make game 1. I'll be at game 2...last time I was at a playoff game at Camden, we beat Scherzer and the Tigers.
    • He should be taking fly balls all winter.
    • That was a lot of fun. Felt like there are certain elite seasons that had to be part of the team, and then tried to build from there.  Outfield depth is a little shaky, as is the rotation — though the latter is probably mostly unavoidable. The lineup would rake and the bullpen would shove, so pretty happy with this combination.   C 2022 Adley Rutschman (5.4 rWAR) 1B: 1998 Rafael Palmeiro (6.3) 2B: 2005 Brian Roberts (7.3) 3B: 2015 Manny Machado (7.5) SS: 2024 Gunnar Henderson (8.9) LF: 1999 Brady Anderson (5.9) CF: 2021 Cedric Mullins (5.9) RF: 2008 Nick Markakis (7.4) DH: 2013 Chris Davis (7.1) Bench: 2003 Melvin Mora (4.7) Bench: 2006 Miguel Tejada (4.5) Bench: 2011 Matt Wieters (5.2) Bench: 2001 Jeff Conine (2.9)   SP: 2000 Mike Mussina (5.7) SP: 2007 Erik Bedard (5.7) SP: 2019 John Means (4.4) SP: 2002 Rodrigo Lopez (3.7) SP: 2010 Jeremy Guthrie (4.5) RP: 2016 Zach Britton (4.1) RP: 2023 Felix Bautista (3.0) RP: 2004 B.J. • Gray started off well  but then ran out of steam a bit. He's not getting any younger. I was interested in him last year but I think the Cardinals overpaid and his contract only gets worse.
    • A bit. Nothing life changing, but the format seems…Cleaner.
