Joey Ortiz 2024

His college keystone partner Nick Gonzales is starring this month too - fun times for New Mexico State boosters.

Austin Martin was the highest profile, but Nick Gonzales was the "other" top NCAA infielder we bypassed for Heston Kjerstad at a moment when it was less clear what Gunnar and Westburg would become.

Its only good news for what Elias is trying to sell if his products thrive.

On base three times and three runs scored so far through the 7th inning in what looks like his first game batting leadoff.

He's actually having a year I bet Sigbot would have taken as a good percentile outcome for 2024 Jackson Holliday.

Heck, he's having a better year than Cowser is. I'm not too sure about the NL ROY but he has to be a front runner.

He just had a poor start but I imagine Imanaga has a huge lead.

Oh, yeah. Thanks. Forgot about Shota. I keep forgetting guys who have been pros for 10 years are rookies. ;)

So when Burnes is gone next year, is that when we get all butthurt about trading Ortiz away? :)

Glad he's having a great season.

Guys were butthurt when Gausman was having a good season....after he would have already been a free agent if he hadn't been traded.

It would nave bothered me more if Hall had turned out to be a good starting pitcher or a dominant back end reliever. So far, not.

One thing that’s surprising is how much Ortiz is walking.   He’s got a hundred point spread between his BA and his OBP, something he never came close to in the minors.

He's had an absolutely torrid May.

I hope all the Soxtalk posters who were sneering at the suggestion that Ortiz was a valuable trade chip are sucking on it now.
