But he’s not a good baseball player anymore.  Didn’t you read the OP?   It was all decided in the first 3 games of the year.  I’m not even sure why Mulllins is still here.

If he stays healthy, I believe Mullins will be a 3-4 WAR player this season.

Anyone think now that Ced’s timing is back and he has gotten it going offensively, that Hyde may consider putting him back at the top of the order?

I would much rather Gunnar get more ABs with men on base. Maybe Mullins 1, Adley 2, and Gunnar 3? Especially against righties.

It’s definitely possible.  He needs to continue to hit

If you assume that Cedric plays 150 games, he’s on pace for 7 rWAR and 6 fWAR.

This stuff is so silly.  Six days ago he had an OPS of .560.  Now it’s .827.   The stats are just all over the place this time of year.   I’m glad Cedric has heated up for now.  That should keep the people who had shoveled dirt on him at bay.  They can spend their time foolishly shoveling dirt on Santander instead.

If there were ever a good month to take a break from the board, April is it. So much chicken-littling.

Mullins went to the bench for a couple games, even though he is at least the best defensive CF on the team.

Santander has started every game is right behind Gunnar in plate appearances, simply because he can be bad from both sides of the plate.

Chicken littling happens to be a 12 month sport.

I have nothing against Santander sitting for a day, or even two.  But at the end of the year, his numbers are likely to be similar to the last three years.  I’ll leave the rest of my thoughts on him for the Santander thread.

Fangraphs CF has him 3rd in MLB this morning, which about splits the difference of his 2nd in 2021 and 6th in 2022.    He had an injury blemished 2023.

You can perhaps count on one hand the CF who are better than him...Julio, Judge, Trout, Carroll, Harris.

Go get the Nimmo contract, Cedric!

I believe he hits well enough he's going to give a Club some good LF years when the CF legs are gone.

    • You are right, it's a challenge. We do have 8 guys to play with, so on a given night you are hopefully resting the majority of guys. They have a system for determining who is available. These days it is probably an app. Hyde will then use any guy that the system has cleared to go. If they don't have enough guys you option the tired guys and bring up fresh arms from the taxi squad. I believe they should allow 12 player/14 pitcher rosters to reduce wear and tear, but the position players in MLBPA probably don't like that and MLB hates pitching changes
    • The addition of Bradish and Means moves Irvin and Suarez to the pen.   And Wells will probably be added to the pen in a couple of weeks.     All three of these  pitchers add length to the pen.    Instead on using three or four relievers in a game they can use one if that is what Hyde decided to do.
    • I have no facts to back this up, so this could be a very ignorant statement. I feel like the starters are throwing more innings than I have ever seen in my 20 years watching this team.  Almost every night, guys are lasting until the 5th or so.  I know that is different than the past, but they seem to be doing well on the whole with decent consistency.   My question is: how is it possible to not overwork the pen.  Even if guys are going 5-6 innings, which seems pretty good for today’s day and age, you still work the heck out of the pen.  Then the pen guys come in and get hurt easily due to over use.     Am I just incorrect?  Are my assumptions poor?  I just don’t understand how, even if each starter consistently goes 5-6, the bullpen doesn’t get overworked into oblivion each night.
    • Need at least two more of these this series
    • If he's getting 2900 rpm on the slider, that's near elite level spin rate.   How is his control?  The walks seem a little high,  but the WHIP is low so he's not giving up a lot of hits
    • The time isn't coming, the time is here.  As sportsfan mentioned, this is a good team whether fans want to admit it or not.  But 30 of mostly terrible baseball does a number to a fan base.
    • We, as fans, need to go 0-Moo to help Cowser get out of this recent funk!
