I was going farther than that, Beavers, Westburg, Gunnar, Wagner.  Basically until the second round they like larger players. I also think Holliday will be 6’0 200 lbs when all said and done which is big for a SS/2B.

Is Holliday actually 6’?  I saw him play a few times last year in Bowie and he looked about 5’10.

Not sure but most reasonable people would not call him a big guy.  Bradfield not a big guy.  Norby not a big guy.  It just so happens that 80% of top draft prospects are probably big guys.

Agree.  It’s almost universal amongst all sports that size is valued when evaluating amateurs for projection.

We’ve been picking really athletic types when not picking high in rd 1. Position player wise.  

2023 - EBJ, Horvath, Josenberger, Cunningham, Etzel

Not that are prior picks haven’t been athletic, if you know what I’m trying to say. We don’t take plodders as position players.

If the Os can help him with his command and control, he could be a special pitcher. Very high risk, very high reward

Brecht has TOR upside.  We’re good at finding #3-#5 types just in developing them, but we need that TOR arm upside and develop.

I will be disappointed if we don't load up heavy on pitching in this draft.  Hopefully there is someone that Elias likes in the 1st round that might join the rotation in a year.

We definitely need to load up on pitching depth in this year's draft also.  However, I'd still prefer to avoid pitchers in the first round.  That 1st round pick is too important to risk it on the fickleness of young pitchers.  But 2nd round and beyond, let's grab a bunch of pitchers.

We need a potential ace.  Many of the top starters were 1st round picks.

After watching Masn’s interview with Sid, no way the Orioles take Brecht or Honeycutt with 22 or 32.

Today I learned Jurrangelo Cijntje is a switch-pitcher.

On the ESPN Sunday Night pregame, Kiley McDaniel just named the Orioles as one of a few late 1st round teams as possibilities.

Apart from the novelty, McDaniel added he is a 1st round talent "just" as a RHP.

I think he’s seen as a relief only prospect as a lefty. He could potentially be used both ways in the minor and throw some innings between starts….maybe. But I’d be absolutely stunned if the orioles picked him.

Do you expect them to gush over a guy they really want at 22 and let other teams know? I would be surprised if we took Brecht, but mostly due to our lack of taking pitchers in the top 2 rounds (excluding comp b last year) and his command concerns.

Honeycutt feels pretty in line with our pick of bradfield last year…a guy with at least two well above average traits that make them stand out (speed and defense for bradfield, speed power defense and arm for Honeycutt, tho maybe not as elite in the specific tools) who didn’t quite put together their potential in their last year or two of college and falls a bit for it (he’s still mostly mocked to be gone before we pick). If they think they can fix the hit tool even to 45 or so he’s a sure fire major leaguer due to the other tools with huge upside. 
 

like bradfield, Honeycutt kind of feels like he could have a floor somewhere near Mateo as long as he can hit even a bit. Largely considered a great center fielder with a plus arm, plus speed and plenty of power?

It would be nice to snag one of the NCAA OF at 22 in Benge, Honeycutt, or Waldschmidt then at 32 get Culpepper.
