So, who WOULD you trade?

I know none of us has any say in the matter, but for the conversation, who would you be okay moving for SP pitching and bullpen arms.

I'll list these selections as "obvious" "tough deciosn" or "daring"

1. OBVIOUS: See if you can get any value in a trade for Urias, and maybe Hays..(depends on the yield)

2. TOUGH DECISION : I'd be willing to move one or two of...Mateo, Stowers, Norby, Mullins, and maybe another low level prospect for a solid #3 starter or two good pen arms (assuming they have some contract control

3. DARING: Might consider moving Mountcastle or OHearn, even fan favorite Cowser. No way do I move or even consider moving Mayo, Holliday, Basallo, or of course Kjerstad

Your move.

Among the prospects who aren't already [semi] regulars, anyone not named Mayo, Basallo, Kjerstad or Holliday.  Even Kjerstad could go in the right deal for a starter but I probably wouldn't like it.  Among the position players 27 and over, any of them in the right deal but not more than two.

I really wouldn't like to trade Kjerstad, honestly. Strikes me as a special bat, just below the level of Mayo.

Mateo, Urias, Hays, Mountcastle, O'Hearn, Santander, Stowers, Norby, Bradfield Jr., De Leon, etc. are all people I'd trade before him.

Your move.

I’d move a guy you consider untouchable for a controllable ace.

Would have to be blown away for Kjerstad and Cowser.

Shopping Stowers and Norby.

Driving Hays to the airport. Urias, too.

Anyone that’s not Gunnar and Adley can be had.

Yup.   I would agree with the 5 you pointed out as "not tradable".   I wouldn't have to be "blown away" for Kjerstad or Cowser, though.   I would like to keep one of them.

I just saw this - it’s from a couple weeks ago.  Trade talk boils down to Keith Law would trade Basallo for an ace like Crochet.   I think I would too if I couldn’t get someone like Scherzer (for a lot less).  KL’s not worried about the innings issue, as long as the medicals look ok. FWIW

Jackson Holliday gets us the most back in a trade, while the performance of Westburg and Henderson in Baltimore, and Mayo in Norfolk, means trading him away probably wouldn't leave a big hole in our future. Would JH get us Skubal from the Tigers? If so you'd have to seriously consider it.

I’d certainly trade Holiday for, say, Skenes and Bednar, but it’s tough to find a match with the big three that works for both sides.  Like I’d probably do Basallo for Skubal, but I’d doubt that would be enough for Detroit and I wouldn’t want to add in another top 100 type of guy.

In my mind, Urias, Stowers and Norby are the spare parts where we need to find a way to get value for them this July.

    • I think GH is already one of the best players in baseball and could go down as one of the best ever.  That doesn't mean as people who play sports that you cannot revert to bad habits or go into slumps.  EVERYONE DOES. My point was GHs little slumps involve swings like the above. That doesn't mean you or anyone needs to come out of the wood work and  defend his honor like a shining white knight like you do for JH for example....and call me a troll for saying so. Get a life.  It should involve more than this message board.
    • Max Fried is a childhood friend of our family..He pitched for our Little League team, my son was his teammate.....he has ALWAYS dreamed of being a Dodger..I think the chances of him being an Oriole are extremely remote...but crazier things have happened..
    • If that’s the case I would just play Kjerstad the way Mountcastle has hit RHP recently. There is so much technology now for guys who get sick. IV vitimans, standard IV and so on.
    • All of this talk is just talk.  And the talk by some posters saying we should be able to get top line starters or relievers without giving up top prospects like JH, B, Heston, or Mayo? Just talk that has no basis in merit.  The bottom line is without another top 3 starter and at least a really good middle reliever?   The Os chances of winning the WS this year are greatly diminished.  Which is a shame because if they had Bradish, Means, and FB all healthy? IMO they would be the overwhelming favorites to win it all this year and next year. So imo you trade someone like a Holliday/middle prospects for a Crochet and a decent middle reliever or for a Miller and a solid starter. And you hope that Felix is able to come back end of this year and/or Kimbrel can reclaim some magic.
    • Except its not “we are who we are”. The Os changed and developed him and realized his career wasn’t over at age 18, 19, 20 or 21..that it’s an evolution of things and different things come at different times..and that development isn’t linear.
    • Santander was close.  Missed by 2% but Kwan and Soto deserve it over him. Didnt see how close anyone else was but I don’t think it was close in the end elsewhere. Mounty had a case about 3 weeks ago or so but Vlad has been on fire and is having the clear better year. Westburg is playing very well but Jose Ramirez deserves it way more.    The voters are so much better now than they used to be, for the most part. Kwan getting in was great to see.
