Don't fall victim to Monday morning quarterbacking just because the result went badly. JJ has been pitching great. He should have been out of that inning with no runs. It was a perfectly reasonable choice to do what he did.

I agree with you about specifically bringing JJ on to start the 8th. However this is the ideal situation where I think moving Sherrill back into a late inning matchup role and Ray to the closer would be better for this team. JJ ideally faces Kinsler and Young to start the inning and you got Sherrill ready for Hamilton and Blalock. INstead, because Sherrill is the closer you don't have the ideall matchup for the 3 and 4 hitters in their lineup.
