You know, I'm worried my boss will see my screen and get the wrong idea. I'm not working or being productive, but at least I'm not looking at porn on the job. :o

My girlfriend actually walked in the room with the ad up on my screen and thought that I was sneaking around doing some sort of online dating site.

Pie's hustling his butt off.

Too bad it probably doesn't matter how well he plays today or how much he hustles. He probably won't get into another game for 2-3 weeks unless it's defensive or pinch running.

Exactly. Because that's what a 4th or 5th outfielder does. Too bad he sucked when he was given the first month and a half of the season to start. To bad that Reimold did well when he comes up.

Reimold has been in a slump too, but DT doesn't bench him. You can't have it both ways.

Meh, there was a guy who posted some interesting stats in the Pie topic. Let me see if I can dig them up...

The thing I really don't understand is why there is such a wide and definitive consensus that Reimold is "better" than Pie.

Yes, Nolan started out his career like a house afire. And yes, he had a scintillating and extremely scorching month from about May 20th to June 20th. But over the past month? He's put up a paltry .613 OPS, while playing in all but 2 games. Since July 1, when Pie last got a PA, Reimold has played in 13 of the team's 15 games despite posting a .488 OPS over this span. This is the guy we CAN'T get out of the lineup? And it's not like defense (Pie is clearly better) or youth (Pie is younger) are issues in Reimold's favor.

Look, I like Reimold too, and I would love it if he completed our OF trio with consistent power and great discipline in LF. But at this juncture, I don't think he's proven enough to warrant keeping Pie on the bench for weeks at a time. And I think it's important to keep in mind that the argument that Reimold is simply hitting the ball too well to be benched hasn't been valid for at least a month now.

I don't know what goes on behind the scenes, but given all the information I have, Pie sitting as much as he has is simply wrong to me.

I think he makes a great point. .488 OPS? And Pie isn't good enough to get a start in there? I mean we're basing him on 55 at bats at the beginning of the year.

I think when he came over here we should've given him a clean slate and completely ignored the sporadic at bats he got in the Cubs organization. Instead, we gave him 55 at bats... relegated him to even MORE sporadic playing time and expect him to hit after not swinging a bat in game time since July 1st? Gimme a break.
