Daniel Cabrera's return...in AAA Reno

What's behind the name change?

As much as I really was a Ken Dixon fan, I felt like it was time for a name that recalled the glory days of Orioles baseball instead of the dismal mid-80's.

"Boy howdy" is something Brooks Robinson used to say from time to time on broadcasts, and it always stuck in my mind in a positive way.

Besides, with Knife Dixon and the other posters with Boom Boom in their handles, I felt like I was getting lost in the shuffle.

I saw Daniel briefly on Thursday night in Las Vegas. Unfortunately (for me) he pitched on Friday, though I did get to see ex-Orioles Ed Rogers & Howie Clark deliver a hit apiece.

It was about 107 degrees before the game, but Cabrera hurled 4 2/3 shutout innings with 2 hits, 2 walks and 2 K's in his most effective start (so far) since resurfacing.

Today, I made my first visit to Wrigley Field and saw Fernando Tatis and the boys. Will be back there on my birthday Wednesday to cheer on Miguel Tejada.
