I like the booing

I know, right? They're 1-3. What an awful, shameful team. Season's over.

People are upset about today's loss and with good reason, but there's 158 games left to play. I'm not saying the O's are going to compete for a pennant or anything, but I don't think I've ever seen this many people jump off the ledge four games into a season.

You missed the word decade in my post.

The O's have sucked for a long time. It hasn't been 4 games. It's been 1,948 games since the end of our last winning season.

Exactly. The only reason people are going ape scat over this is because it's the first week of the season. If this was games 85, 86, 87, and 88, there wouldn't be hardly any uproar. Why is it so hard for people to use a little perspective?

Maybe because people are not apathetic yet?:scratchchinhmm:

But if the O's had won the game today, would you not have been embarrassed to be wearing your Orioles clothes? I don't really see how today's win or loss has anything to do with 12 years of losing. Or is it a "straw that broke the camel's back" situation?

Do you think anyone on this board will ever be apathetic? I won't. I've been an O's fan for as long as I can remember and I care about every game they lose, but I still don't think piling on a guy after 4 games does any good at all.

There are some astonishingly strong camels in this city, Paul. Their backs have endured more straws than could be reasonably expected.

For me, it's the frustration of getting so excited for the season to start only to have the first week start out the way that it has.

I spent every day this spring on OH talking about this team and looking forward to seeing what they can do.

We have had some extremely hard to swallow losses in the first 4 games of the season. I'll still be here (and The Yard, and MASN) for the rest of the year, but for anyone to act surprised about the level of frustration is in a state of denial at the moment.

ledzepp, MGon is a small very small part of things. But he is the reason we lost today's game, Tuesday's game and almost yesterdays game.

I need something more than hope at the moment.

This is why I could never be a manager. I'm afraid I'm too logical. My feeble brain goes like this:

"Okay, we're winning the home opener going into the 9th inning. Not only has my closer been extremely shaky, but he threw 30 pitches last night and Johnson just blew through the 8th inning on like 9 pitches. I really don't want to lose this game, so I'll leave Johnson in there. He's rollin'."

Then when the media asked me why I didn't use my closer, I'd say, "Well, he threw 30 tough pitches last night in Tampa and he's due a little bit of a rest. We need to get him some side sessions to pull his mechanics together a little bit. He's still our closer, but I thought JJ made the most sense given what Gonzalez has been through the past few days."

Isn't Jason Frasor Toronto's closer? WTF was Kevin Gregg doing out there today!?!?!? Whacky Cito Gaston, not using his closer in a save situation!!!

Makes sense to me!!

Maybe there's one positive way to look at this season so far. We would 3-1 right now if we even had a remotely decent closer and we'd all be excited as can be.

The more I keep thinking about it the more I keep thinking, Gonzalez is pretty much the sole reason I'm down on this season so far.

All I saw was the woman being escorted in cuffs through the tunnel. I just assumed she ran on the field. I was watching the jackass in the Markakis tee.

You really have to wonder what goes through the mind of the guys who do that.

It was funny but while we laugh at him tonight, he is probably in jail.

And yes, lots of talent out today, that was for sure.

I agree with this 100%.

Is there some way we can change his first name to Adrian and make the guy a first baseman?

How about adding to the misery with these tidbits:

1) No days off for a while.

2) West coast trip coming up.

3) 12 straight games against Bos and NY coming up.

4) Bullpen already being overworked and with no days off anytime soon, this could be a real problem very quickly...especially since you have to assume DH isn't going to go really deep tomorrow...Hope he gets into the 6th inning...anything more than that is a bonus.
