Kevin Millwood recently rejected the Yankees' offer of a minor-league contract that was structured similarly to the one the team gave Freddy Garcia, The Post has learned.

I'm pretty amazed that Millwood hasn't found a team to offer him a decent major league deal. However, this supports Andy MacPhail's decision not to offer Millwood arbitration.

Cliff Lee, Carl Crawford ......... now, even Kevin Millwood is getting in on the "just say no" to the Yankees theme this off-season. All of them had very different situations, but still ........... the Yanks are used to getting what they want, whether it be blockbuster free agents, and/or marginal players, and/or anywhere in between.

Its hard to say. We don't know what would have happened if we had offered. Maybe the figures are high, maybe they are low. Maybe he values the job security and re-ups at an unfriendly price. Maybe his ego gets in the way of a reasonable offer.

I think it would have been worth it to offer him arbitration- I don't think any of us (especially Millwood) would have predicted he would have this hard a time finding a job. After a 4-16 season, he may have wanted to refuse any offer of ours.
