I think the O's have finally realized that Carl Pavano is pitching.

98 pitches, and Britton battles through two easy-ish innings, one decent inning and two really laborious innings. Only gives up the one run. That's good baseball.

Then again, we're not pitching against an amazing team, so I'd expect us to have these kinds of opportunities against them.

Jakubauskas has been pitching pretty darned well lately, especially compared to how bad he was in June and the first half of July.

Jaku has been one of our better bullpen arms lately.

Totally agree about Jak. He doesn't appear to have the depth needed to be a starter, but he can throw some very nice curveballs to get through an inning or maybe two. If you stretch him too thin his ERA will explode.

Bringing out Pavano for the 7th says one of two things:

(1) The game is still close, and Pavano still has gas, so they don't feel like they need to give him the hook.

or

(2) The Twins already have conceded this game, and are going to let us hit Pavano however we wish (until he's fully exhausted) to save their bullpen for the remainder of the series.

A more alert fielder might have caught that, but it was still a well-hit ball. We got a bit of a break but it was also a nice bloop -- as evidenced by the result.
