Nick had a good game, it still doesn't mean he should have been leading off.

Nick's slash line vs. Sabathia is (as of today, after the game) .296 .325 .408 .733 in 71 ABs. Last year and this combined, it's even better, but only in terms of BA and OBP, not power, which argues for leading off: .333 .357 .407 .765. Besides, what with the season-ending HBP from Sabathia last year, maybe Buck thought Nick wd be on a mission against him; in the post-game MASN interview, you cd see some signs that the normally unexpressive Nick is still upset he missed the playoff drive last year.

From our Man on the Scene, Roch:

Michael Morse is starting in right field. Danny Valencia is batting fifth as the designated hitter.

Left-hander Andy Pettitte is 28-6 with a 3.52 ERA in 44 career games against the Orioles. He's 16-4 with a 4.11 ERA in 24 appearances at Camden Yards.

Adam Jones is 9-for-26 (.346) with a triple against Pettitte. Morse is 4-for-9. J.J. Hardy is 3-for-25 (.120) with a double and triple.

I guess Buck must figure Wieters is young and can catch the rest of the way. What's the point of having a backup when Buck's can't pencil anyone but Wieters into the lineup? Since he's been performing so well lately. He tired? Nah. Dinged up? nope. It's Wieters or no one! I just wonder sometimes......
