Question about Pettitte

I get the part about not going to his mouth with his throwing hand. I didn't think that a pitcher was allowed to go near his mouth in any fashion while on the mound/rubber.

I apologize. Apparently my question wasn't as legitimate as I thought.

When Pettitte is on the mound (and on the rubber) he holds the glove up to his face with the ball in the glove. How is this not considered "going to his mouth"?

Pettitte is applying a secret saliva that magically coats the ball making it unhittable by opposing batters. Sort of like "Flubber".
