Andrew Miller Trade to Orioles

Seriously. How can anyone think this was a very good trade? We traded 7 years of a MOR SP for 20 innings of relief pitching. Pathetic.

You are being to gracious calling him a MOR starter. He has only proven at this point that he has struggled at AA for a year and a half.

Why don't we fire Duquette and hire you? How many times have you been out to see Eduardo pitch this year or ever? Let's see your detailed scouting reports on him.

We're going to be pitching Chris Tillman against Lester in game 1 of the playoffs' date=' but its okay, because we now have Andrew Miller in the 7th.[/quote']

LOL-well said. Yeah, if we had him under control for the additional year, I would be all for this, but....ouch. Disappointed.

Just in the last week we've beaten King Felix, Iwakuma, Weaver, and Garret Richards. How were we able to do that? Was it because of our very effective bullpen that is now even deeper?

Miller - O'Day - Britton.....

I like.

Don't forget, if our SP only goes 5 IP, we can use Hunter. He had a horrible first quarter of the season but has been good since coming off the DL.

If the opposing teams want to win a game, they better score off of our SP. Scary bullpen.

I had read that before as well. Found this

This could indeed be a rental.

Let it play out. Things change, especially if the O's make a deep run in the playoffs. He will also just probably take the biggest deal he can get as this will be his best chance at a big contract.

I think this is a good trade. We have a great shot at the playoffs so we are getting a guy who definitely helps us for a guy who may have someday helped. We are not a team that can buy our way into the playoffs, so when we have a shot we have to go for it. We helped the team without giving away our major assets. I think it is a good move without risking too much. We got one of the best relievers on the market, and he's a lefty.

Fine' date=' he isn't a part of our long term plans. But you don't just give him away for a rental lefty specialist. That's just stupid.[/quote']

Miller gets righty's out, too. This isn't a LOOGY, it's a legitimate stud reliever.

What did people expect? That the O's would land valuable players for the scrubs of the farm system? Just baffling, how some folks think.

You're way ahead of yourself here. Ed Rod may never amount to a ML SP much less the 7 year MOR SP you have him pegged at. He's struggling pretty badly at AA, and to be honest I was pretty underwhelmed with his stuff in ST.

It's a steep price, but I am fine with it.
