I don't want a $15.5 mil contract with Markakis taking away other options to bring in quality free agents. At $15.5 mil, Markakis would be at least $4-5 mil overpaid.

Frankly, I would be happy if they rework a new deal in the 3/30 range or so.

Could Nick get to 3,000? There are only 11 active players who reached 1500 hits by age 30: Jeter, ARod, Pujols, Cabrera, Beltre, Rollins, Crawford, Wright, Cano, Reyes and Markakis. Nice company for Nick there.
