Orioles acquire Alejandro de Aza

Seems like a move for the sake of making a move. Hopefully, he doesn't get too much playing time to hurt the team.

De Aza had 17 home runs last season.

He hit 3 homers in the first 3 games this year and has hit 2 since. He is a below average left fielder and terrible in center. He also is a horrible base runner. Maybe Buck can get through to him. Sox fans don't care what we got, just glad he's gone.

He's not really similar to Lough. Lough is a much better defender, but de Aza has more pop. Just last year he hit 17 HR.

Agreed, he's a very different player... but they balance out to about the same skill level IMO

De Aza isn't going to be our only option like he was for the Sox. He'll get sporadic playing time and he certainly won't negatively impact this team, it's well managed and coached. Sox fans might not be used to that, but we are.

Dan does what Dan can. The way every other supposed nonentity has been lighting up the boards fr the O's this year, I fully expect a 200+ OPS+ for de Aza over the rest of the year.

Has speed and decent OBP against RHP. Like DD said, he'll have some favorable matchups and give us more depth in case of injury. Sounds like they like his experience over Lough/Berry.
