Hey Murph, I just checked the app on my IPad and it is working.

Thanks Munson, just not my night. Trying from my laptop now and the option to choose your provider does not even list any providers. On the phone with ESPN, but surely that will be a waste of time. So was looking forward to getting to see Trimble in action.

Edit: So Sean at ESPN says it is a known issue for certain areas. So if anyone else is experiencing the problem at least you can save the 30 minutes I wasted. ESPN, the greatest company in the world!

Edit2: So...it's back up, but yea....we don't have ESPNU as part of our package. @$@#@ #@%# #%^^$@ !#$@#$# and other words I can't print! Glad to hear they are doing well.

It's on ESPNU down here in Texas. Terps playing pretty well in the first half. Very controlled offense for the most part. They're doing a great job controlling the tempo and not turning the ball over..which was a huge problem for this team last year.

Will be curious to see what happens when Smotryzvyccyzzzz returns. Team is playing well. Don't really want to mess up that rotation.

So he just comes off the bench to shot 3's when we need them, right? Hopefully he is not inserted into a rotation that is working.

What a huge win and great game, especially by the Freshman. This was my first look at this team and I certainly went away impressed with this freshman class. not only are they talented, but they play under control and don't make many dumb mistakes.

Trimble and Nickens are going to be amazing players and I even saw promise from Wiley and Cekovsky.

Now saying that, Dez Welles was out of control late in the game and almost single-handedly kept the Cyclones in the game late. He needs to be a better leader on the court. Layman is playing out of position at PF but man is exciting to watch.

Graham and Dodd were pretty solid doing some blue collar work.

This is a game in the last few years the Terps would end up giving away, but the Freshman kept knocking down shots. Grant it Iowa state did not shoot well and the Terps seem to have some defensive liabilities out there at times, but that was a fun game to watch.

The future is bright!

Is it ridiculous if I say that is the biggest Maryland win in the past 5 years? I can't even remember when the last time Maryland won an early season tournament. Does anyone?

I don't want to jinx anything, but this might actually be a legit freshman class. I only saw the second half, but Nickens hit some huge shots. Wiley has a penchant for corner threes. Trimble had a couple of bad decisions, but he hit some too. Some nice drives.

Was disappointed with Wells, he was pressing and missed some clutch shots. Also had a bad turnover. He needs to be better.

Love Cekovsky's length, he changed some shots and grabbed some rebounds. Dodd did too. I've only seen a couple of games, but am not sold on Pack's ball handling. That's one of my gripes.

All in all very pleased and am hoping for more.

We have seen so many frustrating, low IQ players in recent years I'd almost forgotten what good, smart play looked like. Holy crap. What a difference a point guard makes. Trimble is legit. And we have some actual shooters now. What's that all about. Nickens hit more clutch shots in this game than Nick Faust made in his career. Remember when people were freaking when all the defections happened? Yeah, good riddance. Please let this continue and not be some fluky early season mirage.

Great early season win for the Terps who look really good. Huge difference compared to last year's team. Wells looked like an inexperienced freshman not a senior tonight. At one point in the later stages of the second half he missed six straight shots and turned the ball over a couple of times as he dribbled up the court one time with no awareness of anyone coming up from behind him to knock the ball away. Poor! Just poor play on his part. If he was a 1st or 2nd year player I'm sure Turgeon would have yanked him. Jared Nickens played a smooth all-around nice game with a cool 15 points to help the Terps maintain their lead throughout the second half. What's amazing is these guys look like they have no fear. They look relaxed and confident and their ball handling and passing was great to watch.. I'm impressed and I'm sure those seats will start filling up again at home games. Are these guys really Terps? They remind me of the kind of players Duke and NC run out on the court every night. Quality players. Scott Ferrall on his midnight show on 105.7 tonight called the Terps at the tournament game after it ended and interviewed Jake Layman who is also a different player this year it seems. More aggressive and driving to the basket. Good game with 15 points tonight. Ferrall was super pumped up about theTerps. He said he picked them to win tonight and really likes them. Jake was a good interview and not full of himself or too boastful about the team. He likes the team and how they are playing. They took a call from a guy from College Park and the fan was really pumped up about Trimble, Nickens and Jake. So am I. Go Terps!!

Impressive win. Iowa State is a really talented team and is well coached. I have not been a Turgeon supporter through the years, but he seems to have kids that understand what he wants. Trimble is a star. Nickens is much better than I anticipated. Dodd has really improved, he is a nice guy to have protect the rim and is much tougher rebounding then I thought he would be. Next year with Carter coming on board to bolster the rebounding, wow - football and basketball headed in the right direction.

    • Now we’re on to Mateo.  Nope.  My turn to ask the question.   If Mayo comes up and is average defensively at 3B and puts up an .800+ OPS at 3B and Westburg continues to hit and plays 2B what do you do with Holliday short term and long term?
    • No, I don't have Holliday penciled into the HOF. I never said that. What I said is that I believe in his talent. I don't think that many people got it wrong in his evaluation.  I also don't believe that Mayo's defense is anywhere close to good enough to be an All-star caliber 3B. But I do believe that is possible (maybe even very for Westburg). I'm not sure that professional sports is a meritocracy. In that the more talent/ability that you have, the more opportunities that you will get. That probably explains why Holliday got the first crack at the Bigs over Norby (and even Mayo to a degree).  Last thing, right now Mateo is performing best at the other INF spot (second best). Do you want him to stay/get more playing time right now?
    • They will be cautious with Holliday now.  I am sure they would hate to have to send him down a second time.  I'm thinking mid-season for Holliday if all goes well in Norfolk.  If he struggles down there, which isn't out of the realm of possibility, it could be delayed further.  Mayo is destroying the ball and should get the call next.  There is a spot for him at third with Westburg moving to second.
    • IMO we will see a move by June 1st for either Holliday or Mayo (maybe both) as the O’s schedule June to all-Star break is tough as nails.
    • I watched The Crow. Heck of a pinch hitter in the Glory Years - delivered big hits fairly often. Probably gets added credit for tenure as hitting coach. That's all I got.
    • Yes - and he is also in that 22-23 age range. My only hesitation with him is that he had a half-season of well below league average offense in 2022 and a full season of slightly below league average offense in 2023.  I think he needs a bit longer run of doing something similar to what he is doing now to totally put 2022-23 in the rear-view mirror, but I don't doubt it could happen, especially considering how young he is.  Four players, that young, with that much talent, all playing the same position and bursting into stardom in such a tight time window is remarkable.
    • Can someone explain Terry Crowley to me? I was too young to watch him play. Is he being inducted as a coach or for longevity with the organization? He had less plate appearances and was a worse overall hitter for the Orioles than Luke Scott. I'm not trying to be a hater, just trying to understand.
