He worded it like a slick politician. He said "I do have a contract, and I have always honored my contract." That technically means that, in the past, he has always honored his contracts. "Have" addresses the past, not the future. I'm not trying to read to much into it, but I think you should hold off on jumping for joy after the way he worded that. It's a politician-style way of saying something and nothing at the same time.
