What would you trade for Josh Hamilton?

Buster Onley was hypothesizing on his podcast about possible destinations for Josh Hamilton (under the assumption that neither Josh nor the Angels want him to play another game for the organization).

He thought the Orioles would be a good fit because "Peter Angelos likes redemption stories".

So what would you offer for him and his contract?

5 years/$125M (2013-17) signed by LA Angels as a free agent 12/13/12

$10M signing bonus, $2M to Hamilton?s charity ($0.4M annually)

13:$15M, 14:$15M, 15:$23M, 16:$30M, 17:$30M

full no-trade clause

award bonuses: $0.5M for MVP ($75,000 for second or third in MVP vote). $0.1M for WS MVP. $75,000 each for Gold Glove, Silver Slugger, LCS MVP. $50,000 for All-Star

perks: hotel suite on road, luxury suite for 2013-14 home games, right to pay $0.15M/year for luxury suite for 2015-17 home games

I'd need $83M, plus the Angels to send us something else back.

I see where you're coming from. The only reason I would take an 8M risk on him is that he absolutely has killed in the past at Camden Yards (granted he was feasting off of bad pitching). He has a 1.077 in 119 PA at Camden Yards.

I'd consider it if the O's had just played an exhibition with Norfolk and through some unfortunate incident everyone in the organization down through AAA had been exposed to the Bubonic Plague and had to be quarantined for a number of months and they had implemented some kind of emergency plan to restock the roster and the O's could acquire Hamilton for free without having to pay his salary or commit to him beyond this year. Otherwise probably not.

He was also a good hitter then.

I have to admit, I'm a little surprised at the unanimous non-consideration from everyone. I'm not really sure I'm all that excited about the acquisition but I'm at least intrigued.

As someone has said, he's hit really well in Camden Yards and he still has at least some potential left. With the lineup looking a bit weak and lack of trust in Snider and De Aza, I'm surprised this isn't more of a discussion...
