Great. That's not what I asked. You said it's silly to think Snider should play more, which means you believe Young is a better option. Correct?

I think that his point was that it's silly that we are even having a debate about whether or not Delmon Young or Travis Snider should be getting more playing time lol. My position is that if the front office took care of business in the offseason than Delmon Young would have the same role that he had last year and Snider probably wouldn't be on the team.

I think you need to get over your obsession with what did or did not happen last offseason and concentrate on what is and what will be happening.

Surprisingly not seeing too many people upset over not signing Rasmus even tho quite a few were upset when it fell through.

Great, he's free to take that to one of the many threads STILL lamenting the offseason (So the Orioles weren't going to increase payroll 40 percent in 1 offseason?!?). I asked him a direct question regarding players currently on the team. You know, the ones Buck is actually allowed to play.

Oh I see, you are a moderator? I missed that. Thanks for your permission.

I would not be surprised if the offense sputters more when Wieters returns. He hasn't batted against ML pitchers in over a year. ST he looked terrible. Best case scenario is that after 50 AB's we will get an indication of what we can expect. If he catches about 50% of the games, that's about a month, depending on how Buck uses him at DH. I am not in favor of him DHing unless Paredes begins to slump.

This is where I'm at. I think we're going to see a lot of weak grounders to 2B.

    • Its one of the byproducts of playing .600+ ball for a month. Here are AL relievers by games pitched so far (holy cow what is Oakland doing with TJ McFarland!) https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders/major-league?pos=all&lg=al&qual=y&type=8&season=2024&month=0&season1=2024&ind=0&stats=rel&sortcol=5&sortdir=default&pagenum=1 CLE - Barlow, Sandlin, Gaddis, Clase BAL - Cano, Coulombe, Webb, Kimbrel NYY is leaning on Holmes. Certainly the next 3 games could shift heavily if Yennier or Holmes gets attrited more quickly. If SP returns are friendly to the Orioles in the coming months, Elias can really focus on the RP market.    Is it too early Eduardo style to start thinking about what RP rentals he would give up Cade Povich for?     Cade Povich for Ryan Pressly, Cade Povich for Ryan Helsley.    David Bednar with a bunch of years is more. The reward if you can lock up your division is everyone can go to the spa for September.
    • I agree with what you said about Hays. It minimizes Cowser’s exposure/limitations.  However, I cannot agree with your Cedric Mullins’ take. We don’t have another OF we can cover CF anywhere as well. For whatever we would be loosing in defensive value, the offensive uptick would have to be considerable in order to do that. Mullins is that good in CF IMO.
    • I don’t think a solid plan exists with seeing Gunnar and Adley as short term assets. They are your franchise/cornerstone players. Irreplaceable/superstar talents that every franchise would love to have. I don’t care how good the development system is and how much you believe in it, the chances of finding/developing equivalent talent is very low. But I get what you are saying in regards to the acquisition and retention of upper end pitching talent. With the injury probabilities being so high, it makes sense to view them through a shorter term lens.
    • He's had his good stuff the last few appearances. Also had a terrific play on a swinging bunt by Stanton (helped out by Stanton's ridiculous speed--Yanks announcers went on about how he was hustling, this is just what he is capable of, etc).
    • I take it to mean that Girardi doesn’t know how to read Baseball Savant.
    • Sounds like you are in the camp for letting Burnes walk at season’s end? Any thoughts on a plan to replace him next year? Another trade? Different FA signing? Something else?
    • Maybe it's just me, but I'm kind of looking forward to Hays being back, whether it's a straight swap of McKenna or at the expense of Kjerstad. I want a steady defense-oriented RH outfielder on this team, and McKenna just isn't good enough. Yeah Hays lacks speed, but he's steady and gets good jumps. He will hit better than he has so far.  I've been as critical of Hays as the next guy but I think objectively the roster feels a bit wonky without him. Cowser gets pretty exposed facing lefties, Kjerstad is useless on this team right now, and McKenna isn't much more useful either. Hays helps smooth out the rough edges of this 26-man, IMO, even if his playing time is significantly cut.  I also think a straight CF platoon with Mullins is absolutely in the cards with how terrible Ced has been against LHP this year.
