What a great game! I love Dave Trembley. This team has a whole new identity even though a lot of the players are the same. I'm not delusional, we're not a very good team. But I'd rather be an overachiever with hustle and character than what we've been seeing for the past decade. Go O's

I think what was so great was Jim Hunter talking about how shallow the Mariner outfielders were playing. Then he emphasized how shallow Ichiro was and the camera moved to the outfield where all viewers could see the huge gap in right center. The second Hernandez connected you could see exactly where it was going. Luis Hernandez, hittin where they ain't.

If my memory serves me correctly didnt he get a game winning hit last year?

Maybe he wont have the greatest stats, but will win his share of games for the team, and that is better than any stat you can bring up.

It is all about the teams wins, not teams batting avg

I just saw in the game thread that IHeartMASN is working on getting the rally together. Hopefully we all get to watch this again and again tonight. Is it too early to start drinking? 4:17 pm isn't so bad, is it?

It's five o'clock somewhere, to coin a phrase. I'm downing a chilly in sunny FL and thanks IHM for the replay! :D:D:D

The rally caps did it again!

I spent that whole time yelling at the TV, "Of COURSE Ichiro's playing shallow! It's Luis Hernandez! We should be happy he's not standing on the dirt behind second base!" :P

He deserves a couple moments like this for all the crap we (including me ;)) give him. Good for him.

I fell asleep right after Sarfate struck a guy out in the top of the ninth. Then, I woke up right as the wild pitch walk tied the game. Then got a chance to see the "magic" happen. :002_stongue:

As down as I've been on Hernandez, he certainly came through today. Kudos to him. A great win for the team, and a clutch hit for him!

Haha. I took a nap too, right during the ninth cause I didn't think we would win and I cquite frankly could't keep my eyes open. Glad i got to see the replay though. Good win. That would happen, me spending two and a half hours watching a bad game only to fall asleep and miss the best part.

    • Traded for Bradish, traded for Irvin, traded for Burnes, traded for Flaherty, list can go on.
    • Pablo Sandoval was pretty good for a five or six year stretch. Prince Fielder was a fat slob as was his dad. John Kruk was not  remotely athletic and had a good career. Surprisingly, Andruw Jones was not what I would consider an elite athlete but is probably the best defensive centerfielder of the last 30 years. No, being an elite athlete is not required to be a good baseball player.
    • I wonder what your scouting report of Bobby Witt Jr was in 2022.
    • I think they are trying to tune the robo ump to more closely match the called MLB zone.  The AAA robo ump zone isn't 100% accurate to the rulebook zone, and while the called MLB zone isn't either, it's quite a bit closer.  Specifically balls fading out of the zone are more likely to be adjudged balls by the robo-ump because they're only checking pitch location on a plane at the midpoint of home plate, so for example, a curveball that clips the front of the zone, then drops below it when crossing the midpoint of home plate, would be called a ball by the current robo-ump, but is a strike by the rulebook.
    • Perhaps people shouldn't get personal with you, but you do bring it on yourself. You say outlandish things, presumably to troll, get called on them and then double, triple, quadruple, etc down until people take shots at you.
    • ??? The only sports where people peak younger than 20 is stuff like womens gymnastics and figure skating, where women have to delay puberty in order to maintain a body type ideal for the sport.  Nearly every other sport's athletes  peak between 22-27.
    • Ok several of you want to compare JH to Gunnar.  I am happy to do so: JH is 20 years old and has a .909 OPS at AAA after putting up a .941 OPS as a 19 year old at four levels. As a 20 year old Gunnar had a .826 OPS across three levels, .944 at A, .775 at A+ and .561 at AA (5 games) Even at 21 Gunnar went back to AA for almost half a season and his OPS at AA was .894 I am not saying JH will be as good as Gunnar but people saying we should trade for some pitcher we could have for a year or two have lost touch with common sense.
