Jacob deGrom unhappy with contract, refuses to sign.

It is almost as if this is a fairly common occurrence with elite pre-arbitration talent.

And here I was sure it was the end of the word when Manny wasn't happy.

I remember when Roger Clemens held out in 1987 when he was playing for the Red Sox ...... of course, that was also dead in the middle of the entire "collusion" fiasco between the owners and the players.

They finally settled on a 2-year contract for $2 Million (at the time, the minimum salary was $62,500 per year, and the average salary was $412,000 per year.)

Clemens missed one start, still managed to win 20 games, and repeated as the A.L. Cy Young Award winner.

It amuses me no end that the Mets lost because Cespedes lolly gagged the 1st fly ball he saw this season. He may be the single dumbest MLB baseball player since Alan Wiggins.

Come on you gotta give Ruben Sierra some credit.

Syndergaard had some shaky defense in 3 different innings, but managed to overcome them each time.

In the 1st inning, a misread ball led to a lead-off triple. Syndergaard then struck out the next 3 batters to end the inning.

In the 4th inning, another misread ball by Cespedes led to a lead-off double. Syndergaard then retired the next 3 batters, 2 by strikeout.

In the 6th inning, Syndergaard had to record 4 outs when the lead-off batter in the inning reached base safely on a dropped 3rd strike/wild pitch. He did allow 2 more base-runners, but stranded them all without being scored upon.
