I didn't get to watch today, but that line is pretty encouraging. How'd he look?

Definitely not as good as his line. That said, got out of jams. Made a nice heads up play to 3rd on a comebacker when a runner was on 2nd with no outs.

Threw a lot of pitches. Defense didn't help him in the 6th, but got a double play to at least go 6 strong.

I'll take it considering how dreadful this rotation has been lately.

"You just try to get guys out -- especially in 3-1, 2-1 counts," Gausman said. "I felt like I was in a lot of 3-1, 2-1 counts and I think I only walked two guys, so that was good. But I had a good feel for my circle changeup tonight, and that kind of got me out of a lot of jams and I threw some great curveballs when I needed to."

Velocity was fine. Splitter didn't really....split. Slider hung all over the place. Red Sox were aggressive on his fastball.

He just fell apart. Way too many fastballs.

Thanks. Glad it was just a bad night. We need him to say the least.

What happened? No command, velocity down? Only saw the box score. Yuck

I suspect that he just had a bad game ....... combine that with the fact that the Red Sox are a stubborn offense in the first place (even when a pitcher is on his game), and you get what you got tonight.

Also, he missed a potential DP ball and/or easy out at home plate in the 3rd inning because he failed to field the ball cleanly when it came to him. That could have made the 3rd inning considerably less disastrous than it was if he had fielded it cleanly.

No matter, though. Even if he had made that play in the 3rd inning, he didn't seem to have his best stuff tonight. On to the next game for the Orioles, and on to his next start for Gausman.
