For me it is the development of our starting pitchers becoming a true top 5 rotation, especially at the depth. It seems the one thing most "experts" thought might be the Birds weakness this year was our starting pitching depth. Over the past few weeks they have definitely carried us. Despite his start last night I was at the game in Cincinnati last Saturday night. Means was masterful with his ability to throw first pitch strikes. The anti Ubaldo Jimenez! -

It's far more likely that you are the last leg in bad game of telephone, and that Druw Jones would never have rejected signing for 1:1 money and prestige. Also, you're acting like you heard it directly from his high school coach. Even the way you tell it, you're quite a bit separated from the alleged source... And even if you did, there's no way his high school coach was participating in negotiations, so his word should be taken with a grain of salt. To me, it sounds like revisionist history to cover for a kid who thought he was going to be the number 1 overall pick, and maybe was a tad embarrassed when he wasn't. -
Nothing wrong with that and damn is it not fun living and dying with this team nearly every night? I haven’t had this much fun as a sports fan in all my life and we are in year 2 in what should be a long window of competitive Orioles baseball! What a great time to be an Orioles fan! -
I for one would hate to lose Mayo. While he may be currently blocked at the big league level ans striking out at a higher level at AAA than the O's front office might be comfortable with I think Mayo has 40 HR potential, plus he's still just 21. Then again I might have the same fondness for "our" guys that Elias seems to have. The other side is this...could Miller and Bautista become the next Wetteland/Rivera combination? The pair that shortens games to 7 innings? Perhaps.

Blocked out Holliday as one of the big disappointments as well. Any of the 4 (Mullins, Santander, Hays, and Holliday) may play their way out of disappointment status the rest of the way. -
Assuming it can only be 1 player, Westburg would be tops with Cowser a close second. But to me, the most significant step forward has been the starting rotation solidifying for 5+ spots which includes trade for Burnes, Irvin emergence, GRod dominance, Kremer, Bradish health, Means, and even Suarez spot starts. Worst developments are the dropoffs in play from Mullins, Santander, and Hays.
